July 26th, 27th, and 28th
me being my jerk-ass self with foreigners and the religious comes to a conclusion

Okay, well honestly the last few days are kind of a blur. I can't really remember much of what happened over them. On the 26th, I guess we must have followed the ordinary schedule of going to sleep around 11:15, and then waking up around 5:00. Oh wait, no thats wrong. I remember absolutely nothing about that night, but i remember the morning we all got to sleep in to about 9:00 or something, because instead of leaving to toronto early that day, the pilgrims were staying at the school longer to catch up on sleep, and then spending the night in Toronto for the Vigil and mass with the pope the next day, and thats why I didn't have to sleep at the church that night. I probably spent the whole night bitching to Lauren about crap. The morning is all a blur too. Lauren's family was having their annual summer party thing, and me and Boyle went over to Laurens house with her, and the original plan was we were both going to sleep over, so i brought my bag from school with all the stuff for my contacts in it and stuff. We probably got to Laurens house around noon, and there weren't many people there, just a few of Laurens relatives. We played on the trampoline a bit, where Boyle showed off that he can do back flips, and I tried to do front flips, but instead I just hurt my shoulder a lot. I can't remember what happened, but for some reason Boyle was going to go camping in Rockwood with a few friends (the park ended up being full, then he got his car stuck, then a taxi driver helped him get his car unstuck, then they couldn't find anywhere to sleep, and ended up driving to missassauga looking for a hotel until they found one at 2 am). Me and Lauren hung out doing nothing really during her family's party thing, but as always, I ended up in the pool in all my clothes. Everytime i go to someones house... grrr... We also cooked lunch for everyone, which was just three boxes of Kraft Dinner (which was still good) but Lauren didnt use the instructions at all!! what the hell!!! its like sacreligious!! She said it turned out perfect, but it needed more margarine if you ask me. But that doesn't matter at all. So nothing much happened all night, and we ended up going out to rent some movies. Lauren lives out in the middle of nowhere, so her aunt was going to give us a ride to the video store. We headed down there, but the road was closed, so Lauren decided we should go to the one in Acton instead. Of course, she had no idea where in Acton the store was, and its not like she had a membership or anything, so after driving around for about 30 minutes, we ended up taking the long way to the first store we were going to. We ended up renting "ghostworld" which she said was good, and "snatch" which she also said was good. We got back to her house, kciked the kids out of the basement, and got pillows and crap and watched the movies. We watched ghost world first. It was crap. Theres nothing else to say about it. It was just crap. Then we watched snatch. That was such a good movie!! I recommend it if you haven't seen it. while we were watching the movies, i was feeling nice and i gave lauren a nice foot rub. She ended up falling asleep halfway through snatch, so after it ended i woke her up, and she went to bed, and i slept on the couch. Then the next day i slept until... about 12:00 and everyone was already awake. We sat and watched the mass thing with the pope on TV to see if we could see any of our pilgrims for a while. It wasn't very exciting. The pope sounded like the guy from the godfather, and he kept drooling while he was talking. Boyle showed up sometime around 1:00, and we headed back to town. according to the schedule thing we were given at the beginning, it said: "1:30 - 5:00. All pilgrims return to school and Kitchener/Swedish Pilgrims go home". The Belgian pilgrims were staying one last night, and leaving the next day. Well, we got to the school at about 1:30, and there were a few people standing outside the front door. They had cases of pop and all kinds of food and stuff, but apparently the door was locked. It turns out that the Pilgrims were staying later, because the mass ran long or something, and they were taking a train back from toronto at 3:00.
Well, we're in Milton with nothing to do now, and we don't even know how long we have to wait before we come back to the school. Boyle wanted to go to Laurens house and sleep, but if we went there we would have to clean up all the stuff from the party the night before, so we just went to McDonalds to get some food. I hadn't eaten anything all day, so this was a pretty damn good idea as i saw it. So we went to Mcdonalds, bought some nuggets and fries and ate them. We saw a group of people, probably around 30 of them, come in all wearing yellow shirts with "KANSAS" written on the back in big letters, so I figure they must be here for World Youth day too. We still have a few hours to blow before we have to go back to the school, so Lauren says we should go to the mall so she can buy a new belly button ring (A few days before I was playing with her belly button ring and I must have unscrewed something, because the next day a part of it was missing). Boyle really didn't want to go to the mall, because Lauren was banned from going in the place and he had had his fill of dealing with the police for that week. We went anyways. Boyle decided to sleep in his car, and me and Lauren headed inside. Man I hadn't been in the Milton Mall in a long time. There were two stores that I had never seen before. I can't remember what they were... but they were new. Well anyways, me and Lauren headed to the store that sells body piercing stuff, Ardene's i think it was called, but they were closed. The milton Mall is really crappy, so theres nowhere else we could possibly buy a belly button ring there. Lauren says theres a piercing place somewhere near the mall so we go look for it. On the way we stop by my work, cuz i wanted to pick up my paycheck and I had to talk to my boss. He wasn't there, so i left him a note. But I did pick up my first paycheck. Two Hundred dollars!!! There is nothing better than the feeling you get reading the numbers on your first paycheck. ahhh, good times.
So me and Lauren go wandering around looking for this place, and she decides to check a phone book in a payphone to find out the address. It was somewhere on main street, and we knew which direction at least, so we start walking. Well us, being stupid, walked right by the place. The payphone was right next to it. Stupid stupid. But luckily we notcied quickly, but it was closed anyways. Time to give up looking for belly button rings. Theres a convenience store there too, so we stop there to get some ice cream cuz it was like thirty degrees out at least. Lauren buys herself and ice cream cone, and I notice that they have a long line of porno movies on the top shelf in one of the aisles. They tried to cover up the girls on the boxes with little stickers, but didn't do a very good job of it. Anyways... so Lauren and I head back to the mall, and look at the stuff in "A Buck or Two", a really crappy store. Boyle comes in, complaining that his car is too hot and we all head to the CD store. They had some kind of sale thing on, where you could get four t-shirts for $20, so Boyle buys some, one of which says "doggie style" and has two dogs having sex on it.
After all that stuff, we headed over to checo's house for a while, where all we did was sit around and watch some tv show with robots fighting each other. We headed to the school at about 5:00, and all the staff people were there, except steph, because she had to work. None of the pilgrims had come back from toronto yet so we just hung around in the staff lounge and ate and talked about i dont know what. We went in the gym and climbed on top of the bleachers, which were folded up against the wall, so it was more just like a wall about 6 feet high. I had an urge to do a backflip off it, but I thought if I tried, i'd just land on my back and hurt myself. checo said he'd give it a shot, so we moved one of the gym mats closer to the edge, and he climbed onto the edge and got ready to jump. Lauren said she didn't think he was going to do it. I knew better. THWAP! flat on his ass. Checo immediately let out a loud groan and rolled around a bit. We all had a good laugh, and he seemed to be okay. A little sore, but okay.
The Belgians arrived before the Kitchener kids, and the Swedes had already left, because their plane left earlier that day. They were their usual cheery selves, singing and dancing up a storm. They were all very happy to get some food too. There were hundreds of boxes of pizza everywhere. Mmm, pizza. One of the guys didn't like pizza so he had a salad or something. The Belgians mostly went straight to the showers after they ate, and we were supposed to make sure that our groups had all come back from toronto, but it was impossible to keep track of them so we just assumed they all came back. Also, during the night before, when all the pilgrims sleeping outside in Toronto, it poured rain all night so all their stuff was soaking wet still. The layed out their sleeping bags and sheets and things out behind the school, but it was kind of windy so the stuff just went all over the place.
The Kitchener kids all arrived at about 6:45, and had to leave pretty much right away, so they ate and then went straight to packing up their bags. One of them stole a few signs from toronto with the world youth day logo on it, and some angels and things. or it might have been a belgian that did that. i can't remember. They said they just picked it up and walked away with it. I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I was standing in the hallway, complaining about how my shoulder hurt and one of the leaders of the kitchener group came up behind me and pinched my shoulder incredibly hard. INCREDIBLY hard. It hurt so much, I literally could not stand up and I fell to my knees. I had no idea what the hell she was doing, and she explained that it was the only way to make it feel better. Turns out she was a professional massage therapist. It did stop hurting after, but it hurt again the next day, and I think I got a bruise from excessive power-pinching.
The kitchener pilgrims all packed up real quick and headed out to their buses to head back home. We all went out to say goodbye and everything, and peole were taking pictures, and one of the Belgian guys was crying, and then in true belgian style, we sang and danced this song we had been singing all week. I made up my own words in english: "Forwards and backwards and side to side! Jumping and crounching and side to side! Forwards and backwards and side to side! Jumping and crounching and side to side!!!" Okay it seems stupid. but it went with the dance. I also made up some verses about how i didn't know the verses so I was making up verses. True improv. The kitchener kids all left, and it was kind of sad to see them go. I didn't really get to know any of them too well, but some of them were really hot. lol.
The belgians were pretty tired, so they all went to sleep early, but about 13 of them spent a couple of hours outside the school in the student square, just sitting on the benches and chatting. All the fire wardens just hung out in the Staff lounge for a while, until the security guards kicked us out. I don't know why they kicked us out. those guys were total bastards all week. So since they kicked us out of the staff lounge, we all headed to the empty gym where the kitchener kids were sleeping, set up a bunch of gym mats and talked for a couple more hours. steph smacked me in the eye with her hat cuz i was pissing her off, and it hurt like hell. All i could see was red, and i thought she cut my eye or something. She felt really bad, but i was fine. At one point everyone was sitting over at the mats, and me and lauren were about 20 feet away from them talking, and i was siting in a chair with my back to them, and lauren was kneeling with her head on my knee, and we could hear them talking about how it looked like lauren was giving me head. but she wasn't... not yet. lol. that was a joke, in case you didn't catch that one.
Steph started falling asleep, so she went to bed, then lauren went to bed, then everyone else went to bed. it was about 3:00 am now I think. Boyle had gone home, because he had no reason to stay since all his pilgrims were gone. a few of the girls left too for the same reason. Morning came, and we were all grumpy because we didnt sleep much. We had a big meeting in the piazza, and the Belgians said how happy they were to spend their time with us and everything, and they wrote us a song and sang it to us, and then we all piled up onto the main stairs and took a bunch of pictures. It was really great. Classes were still going on for summer school, and later some of my friends asked me what the hell was all the singing and yelling about.
A little later the belgians finished packing up their things and headed out to the bus. The big signs they stole from toronto were too big to bring with them, so they tore off some pieces and left the rest. They all got on their buses, and we all waved goodbye and did some more singing and dancing. As the buses drove off, one of the belgians, a guy named Vim stuck his hand out the window with a note. One of the organizers ran after the bus and tried to grab the note, but she couldn't catch up so Vim just dropped it on the ground.
Thank You.
Good-bye.
Vim
haha, that was such a Vim thing to do. if you knew Vim you'd know what I mean. But you don't. Or so I assume.
With the belgians gone, there wasn't much left to do but clean up. We all missed them. They were great people. It was a great week. Already I was considering going to the Next world youth day in Germany in 2005, but not for all the relgious crap. Just to meet the people. We all had a great time.
With all the pilgrims gone, we cleaned up all the posters and things off the walls, and cleaned up all the garbage left in the gyms. Lauren had already left earlier that morning, I can't remember why, but she left behind a pair of pants and her soccer ball, so I took them. I also took some two giant signs that the pilgrims left behind, one with a giant question mark on it, and one that said "welcome" in four different languages. The welcome sign in now on the door to my room, and i havent figured out what im going to do with the question mark yet. Me and checo also had to carry a mini-fridge from the staff lounge over to some other room, where it came from in the first place. After that, we helped a lady take a bunch of boxes and things out to her car, then headed home. Checo's mom picked me and him up, and we crammed all our things in the trunk, except my giant signs which wouldnt fit. We had to roll down all the windows and slide them through the car, so that the ends stuck out each side. As we drove to my house, the wind started picking the sign up, which wasn't good because i was holding it in place with my chin so when it wtarted rising it choked me. After that, i just brought all my stuff inside my house, and dumped all my very smelly clothes in the laundry and headed straight for the shower.
It was a great week, filled with great people. The only thing that could have made it better is if you took out all the religion. haha, i hate religion. END OF EVERYTHING.
