Entry 5: December 30, 2001: Well it took more than a week to update but at least the update is within the same month. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and that your New Years will be just as nice. Now let's get started.
To update you on the car issue from the last brainscan: The car was totaled, too old to get new parts. I bought a new car, a 1999 Mercury Tracer. And I still haven't gotten any money yet for the old car since my brother is as slow as Undertaker wrestling in getting back to her insurance company.
Anyway, it feels great to finally be driving by myself. I have a freedom now that I didn't really have before. I can now drive myself around anywhere I want without hassling someone else to take me there. Now I just have to get used to driving more and then figure out how the hell to get anywhere and I will be fine. It's a great car so far but unfortunately I paid for it in full which greatly hindrance my bank funds. But I hope to build that back up with the money that my brother gets from the insurance claim and with the new part time job I got.
Yes, I got a part time job now until I can find something related to my degree. I'm working at the Tobacco shop in the mall where I used to work at the CD store. I get to work on the lottery machine and sell geriatrics their tickets. These customers are worst than the Wall customers. And they spend like $50 dollars a pop average on the tickets. They spend more than they could ever possibly win. Yes, by the time I am finished with this job, I will hate old people for life.
In WWF news, they finally did something smart. It's about time that Jericho got his due and as the 1st Undisputed World champion to boot. Even though they made him look weak getting it by having the whole heel roster helping him out, it will still stand in the record books as Chris Jericho - 1st Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. Now if they will only let him keep it for more than a month, maybe he'll finally be taken seriously. He's almost returned back to his cocky heel style that he perfected in the WCW, including the "stepping on the opponent and posing" pin that he used to do. I love that. As I said last time, cocky heel Jericho is the only way to go.
It looks like Kevin Nash is closed to signing back with the WWF now, well at least according to the newest rumors. I've heard so many rumors about this matter that I don't know what to believe any more. Let's just say that when I see Nash strolling down the aisle on WWF TV is when I will believe any more of these rumors. It will nice to see him back though, although he would be much better with Scott Hall by his side.
With the year rapidly closing out, let's take a look at some of my favorite moments of Wrestling in the year 2001:
-The acquistion of WCW by the WWF: This was by far one of the biggest things to happen in wrestling ever, let along this year. The possibilites of this story was endless but somehow the WWF found a way to end it and end it quickly by pretty much killing any heat that the Invasion angle could have had. However, this was still a big event when it happened and was one of my favorite moments of the year.
-ECW reunites on Raw: This was also a very big event. Reuniting practically all of the big names in ECW at one time to go against the WCW/WWF factions and then having them team up with WCW to beat the WWF with Steph McMahon acting as owner. This had tons of possibilites too and single-handedly ended up saving the Invasion angle from a complete car wreck. However, in true WWF style as of late, this ended up not doing much more than putting off the inevitable and that was Vince killing off BOTH of his main competition for good on one big pay-per view event of his own.
-Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho come out of their own: There's no doubt that Chris Jericho looks like he's finally made it (at least for now) by becoming the first Undisputed Champion but before the injury, Chris Benoit was coming out of his own too. At the beginning of the year, Benoit had some tremendous matches against Angle and Jericho. Then both Benoit and Jericho took on Austin and HHH and BEAT them for the tag titles thus setting them up for big things. Unfortunately Benoit got injured and suffered a long term injury and Jericho's push was held back until his superb program with the Rock. However, Benoit will be back in February and I hope for big things for him. And Jericho is already seeing those big things.
-Ric Flair in the WWF: WHOOOO! Ric Flair finally returns to the WWF and gives the federation some class and style not to mention some mic work that some of the younger and older WWF talent could use as lessons for their own mic work. Seeing Flair in the WWF is great and having him go against Vince is even greater. Two of the powerhouses of wrestling for the past 2 decades deciding to go at one another for the next decade. Can't ask for anything more. Plus bonus: they've been showing Arn Anderson with Ric Flair lately on WWF TV. Could we see the emergence of a 4 Horsemen team in the WWF?
-Hurricane Helms: I thought this guy had some great talent in the WCW. Unfortunately, it was wasting away while they put him in that awful 3 Count gimmick. However, when they broke them up, he became Sugar Shane Helms, got that awesome finisher the Vertabreaker and even a cool entrance albeit a cheesy one. Then WCW folded. But WWF in an actual flash of brillance, decided to give a pretty decent mid card push for Helms by giving him this Hurricane Superhero gimmick. Now I should hate this for it's cheesiness but I like superheroes and Helms pulls it off well. Plus he's getting over with the crowd. Just go back and check out the tapes when they re-debut him in the WWF the other week with the lights out entrance when he went to save Torrie Wilson from Crash Holly. It's too bad they eliminated his Vertebreaker mover though.
-Steph McMahon's new bosum buddies: Yes, call me superficial but I think Steph got way hotter after the surgery. Sue me.
-Rhyno: Here's a guy I was pretty big on in ECW. He made a vast improvement in the WWF and if it wasn't for his injury, he could have made even more leadway. That Gore is just one of the best moves ever.
-The "Old" Steve Austin returns: After most of the year portraying a heel, Austin returned to his old ways after the Survivor Series. It took him a few shows but as of late, I've seen some classic Austin trying to break through. That supermarket scene with Booker T alone is classic Austin and will go up there along with his driving the beer truck into the stadium and throwing the Rock's IC belt over the bridge as some of his best moments. They even gave him his original theme music back. What?
Now here are some of my predictions in wrestling for the year 2002:
-Jericho will lose the belt early in the year not to see it again until the summer. HHH will beat him for it.
-RVD will become one of the biggest names in wrestling, after Rock and Austin, and will headline a pay per view without it having to be a triple threat match.
-Benoit will come back on a tear and will finally establish himself as a main event player. He will see Heavyweight Gold by year's end.
-Flair will turn heel by the summer.
-Kevin Nash will be in the WWF by the beginning of Feb. I'm not making a prediction on whether or not Hall will be with him since Hall is so unpredictable.
-We will not see Sting or Goldberg in the WWF this year.
-Scott Steiner will be in the Royal Rumble as a surprise entry.
-Hurricane Helms will continue to get pushed and then depushed and then pushed and then depushed, sort of like he is now.
-Eddie Guerrero will come back and become an upper mid-card heel showing the other heels how it's done.
-No one will care about Tough Enuff 2.
-Tazz will finally get a decent size push only to be depush as soon as fans start caring.
-Undertaker will finally retire after no selling his last match.
-Kane will unmask to reveal that he never had a burned face after all. He lied to everyone the whole time. He will become a hated heel because of this.
-Edge's push will fail but Christian's push will be successful.
-Maven will learn more moves other than a dropkick.
-X-Pac will turn face and get booed.
-Lance Storm will finally get respected.
Well that's is all for now. Check back soon for my next update.
