Hey, this page is for all my friends, and just SP fans in general, I am
constantly trying to update this with more pictures, and more stupid
obsessive pumpkins comments. The Smashing Pumpkins are one of the
hottest bands in the world today. The band from Chicago that was overshadowed
by the Seattle scene has struggled to become the SMASHING PUMPKINS of
today. This page is directed to devoted fans like myself who listen
to the PUMPKINS whenever they are just sitting at home, or in the
car, or turn it up when it comes on the radio.
A must for the PUMPKIN fan is the box set The Aeroplane
Flies High It contains five mellon collie and the infinite
sadness singles, 1979 Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Zero,
Thirty-Three, and Tonight Tonight. There are a total of 33
songs, 28 of which are b-sided. 5 are bonus cover songs,
like Your all I've got tonight by the cars. A 44 page book of
totally random and interesting pictures is also included to
keep us fans in touch with this band that we can't seem to
get enough of. The carrying case is a retro style box, and
it is a really cool way of boxing the set. I bought mine
for $35 when it came out. I must thank the pumpkins for giving
this to the fans to hold us over with 76 songs until the next
1979 style album arrives in the stores.
After dropping out of college to become a perfessional musician like
his dad, Billy Corgan met up with James Iha at the record store that
James was working at, and the two started a band. Darcy met Billy
outside a cafe, and the two got in a fight, and well that part
of The Smashing Pumpkins is history. While using a drum machine,
Jimmy Chamberlin saw the pumpkins, and asked to be thier drummer. So
formed a band, but what were they going to be called? Billy had always
made a joke and said he would name his little band the Smashing Pumpkins.
So formed the greatest band THE SMASHING PUMPKINS.
With the release of Gish thier first album, the Pumpkins went on the road. The only problem was a band from Seattle suddenly came on the scene with an album called Nevermind. The pumpkins were overshadowed by Nirvana, and became the losers of Alternative. Gish went on to be the College Radio Album of the year 1991. With the hard driven Rhinoceros, and the slow and mellow daydream sung by darcy the fans loved this album. With the Album done, it was time to test out the material in a live setting. Sell out tours of Europe followed, with an American tour finishing the year off. If it wasn't for Nirvana hogging the press, then the Pumpkins would have been odds on certains in the underground kings. Gish ends with billy forshadowing his own mental anguish with "I'm going crazy, I'm don't want feelings you're feeling, I have gone Crazy"
Two years after Gish and a mental breakdown later, Billy and friends went back into
the studio and recorded Siamese Dream. Rumors swirled around there being
much internal friction around the PUMPKINS and that they were on the urge of breaking up
The rift remained, but the group plowed on with the sessions and the resulting
album was an absolute masterpiece. Feeding off the tension they have
thrown everyting into Siamese Dream as if it was to be their epitath.
It sold 6 million copies total, and with the Video and song Today,
the Pumpkins went on to stardom. The rumors fell apart when the PUMPKINS
headlined Lollapolluza. In 1994, they performed a loud and anguished
version of Disarm at the MTV video music awards. The clip is now on my page

In 1994, Billy and the gang went into
the studio to make a decisive double album. Together with producer Flood,
the PUMPKINS put together and amazing 48 for Mellon Collie
and the Infinte Sadness. Driven by the Single Bullet with Butterfly Wings.
Everything looked great for the pumpkins careers. A live radio broadcasted
premiere show forshadowed some of the problems the pumpkins are going through,
when the lights went out, but the pumpkins played on. The show was amazing.
Mellon Collie sold off the shelves the Pumpkins went on tour, and thier careers
looked strait up. The only problem was the covering up of
Jimmy's drug problems.
Earlier this year in New York, Jonathan Melvoin the Keyboardist
for this tour overdosed while doing drugs with Jimmy. Jimmy was kicked
out of the band, and all ties were broken. The pumpkins have shown that
they are still and amazing band by releasing this new box set. They are
still an awesome band, who don't conform and write 3 minute pop songs
like green day Pearl Jam Bush and other bands but write crushing 8 minute
songs, great love songs like luna, lullabies like farewell and goodnight,
inovative songs like 1979, and break up songs like Pennies. The SMASHING
PUMPKINS are just a great band, their music has carried me through tough
times, and shown me that I am not the only one who has screamed go away and leave me here, go away and leave me
alone, all the world must know that I love you so.
William P. Corgan, the center of the Smashing Pumpkins. Billy is an amazing lyricist, guitar and piano player. Billy writes virtually all the songs. He directed the new Thirty Three video. Right now, he looks like uncle fester, but hey, we can't all have everything. Billy is the man. What else is there to say about The Pumpkin King?
James Iha is also a key pumpkin. James plays the rythum guitar and is also a great song writer. Some of James songs include Blewn Away, Believe and take me down. James is a great asset to the band, keeping them laughing with his little quirky things. Looking through pictures to put on this page, I always saw James doing something crazy. James needs some tips on fashion from someone though. But hey, he can play guitar and he is in the pumpkins, so it's all good. James, you are awesome.
Not much is known about Darcy the Bass player. She has an amazing
voice, as featured on Daydream on Gish. Darcy and James
once dated in the Gish Days. Darcy is now married to the drummer of
Catherine, who is also the drummer for the starchildren, Billy side
project. She is the third link of this great band. Darcy and James
own Scratchie records. Darcy, you are a great singer and asset to
this great band.
These three Pumpkins make up the Smashing Pumpkins Jimmy is in some betty ford rehab band, and matt walker from Filter is their touring drummer, along with Dennis Flemmian of the Frogs on keyboard.

The concert totally rocked. The pumpkins are just amazing. After waiting through Garbage, who really sounded terrible with the sound equipment, and about a 45 minute wait, listening to opera like music, Dennis Flemmion came on stage and played Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Then the Pumpkins came up, and played. I am sorry I don't remember the order, but they played x.y.u., zero, an amazing version of Today, thirty-three, Disarm, Tonight Tonight, Porcelina (a song which the title is close to my heart, beautiful (a very meaningful song to me and someone I know), tales of a scorched earth, the aeroplane flies high. Then they went off stage, and like a forth of the crowd left, they came back and played muzzle, then back off stage, and another fourth left, then James played some blues guitar, and then 1979, then they just jammed for like 45 minutes. I am a huge pumpkins fan, but after a while it got old, but Billy thanked all the true fans for staying for the whole show. It was so amazing, I definetly encourage everyone to go out and see them when they come to your neighborhood. Does anyone know how I can get a bootleg of the concert.
