helness is something very rare, and can only be found one
place... That's right, it's *HERE* on this page. Hey, it's
not catching!!!! Get your finger away from that 'Back'
button! *pout*
helness is the art of being Shel. I started using this
term a couple years ago when trying to design a signature file.
I found a really cute ASCII of Winnie the Pooh sitting with his
honey pot. On the honeypot, it had 'Pooh' written, but I
changed it to "Just Shelness". So, that was how I signed my
mail and posts on the BBS I frequented at that time.
bit about me...
'm a native Californian, born and raised in San Francisco
and it's environs. I am thirty-something years old. *smirk*
Ok, ok.. I'm 38. I'm an Aries too, and we're known to have
quick tempers, so stop that snickering about my age. *glare*
have been online in one form or another for the past 10
years. I started out with my Commodore 128 on a nationwide
BBS that was run by "AOL" *puke* We had a nice little place
called "Quantum Link", and I spent many years there making
friends, and creating music files called SIDs. This was for
Commodore computers only. It was closed down since AOL
decided to put it's efforts into their moneymaking company,
and the little Commodore was a dead horse, so we were just
put out to pasture. Of course, I understand that, and it
does sound reasonable, however the way that it was done was
not in my mind the best way. Things kept breaking, and they
kept telling us that the things would be fixed, but they
never intended on fixing them. They just bled it dry and
then finally closed it down. That is why I have no fondness
for AOL.
rom there, I found a local BBS and I became a co-sysop
and one of the validators. This was a fun job. I like
helping people, so I did this for a while, but got burned
out with all the people hacking in, so I just quit the
validating part of the job and worked in Customer Service
for the BBS. The guy that owned the system finally had to
close down, due to financial problems. It's a shame.. we
had alot of fun at the different parties we went to.
hen I found the Internet, finally. *cheer* I became
involved in MUDs and found a new way of socializing. Some
of the names I used on the MUDs were "Honey", "Angelia",
"Llyse", and "Amberlyn". I eventually started my own mud
with my friend Randy. This was an interesting experience
as I had never had any experience with programming at all,
and I was able to pick up 'C' rather easily. Well, that's
not to say I could ever be a programmer, but I can do some
things within the MUD environment. We lost our site though,
and then got a new one and lost that one too, so we have a
real nice mud but no site. Anyone wanna sponsor a poor
homeless MUD? *grin* We have a really nice player base,
and alot of changes to the code. It's too bad we have no
place to run it. We are looking, though. Someday, I hope
we'll find a new home. :)
ome things I enjoy are Music, (pretty obvious *grin*)
Poetry, (I like to write it as well as read it) Travel,
(Haven't done too much lately, no money :/) Cats, Horses,
Bears, Unicorns, collecting stuffed animals, watching the
sunset, watching it rain while I'm indoors and dry,
walking on the beach in the moonlight, watching "Are You
Being Served" on TV, (old British comedy on PBS). I also
love to read, and enjoy fantasy, science fiction, medical
thrillers, Star Trek TNG, DS9, and Voyager series,
Garfield, and Roger Zelazny's 'Amber' series. I love
movies of many types, comedy, drama, action, adventure and
musicals. I don't get to go to the movies often, however..
again cuz of the money, but I rent them when they come out
on video. My favorite colors are blue, green and purple.
My favorite foods are Mexican, Italian and Chinese. I'm
not a bad cook, but I hate doing dishes. *grin*
have a cat named "Paws" who thinks she's a dog
sometimes. She will chase balls and bring them back to you
to throw again. Only when she wants to, however, never in
front of other people, so I always look like a liar when I
say she does this. *grin* She's all black with 2 extra
toes.. one extra on her front left, and back right paws.
She's our Halloween cat. We got her in October of 1992.
She's a mutant, but we love her. And she loves us too,
when we feed her. *grin* You can read her thoughts on
