Distant Dreamer
(Anderson)

Late evening falls, consuming your four walls
Particularly where we lie
Swimming in gloom, we breathe music in your room
As blue as flannel covers
Two friends suddenly lovers
And press for a repeat or two

Dressing to dine
A city drive and wine
Your glances made the wait worthwhile
Apartment romance
A farewell, goodnight dance
Swaying slow to Ella
Was I the lucky fella who kissed you as he turned to go?

A distant dreamer holds you in his mind
Trying hard to find some new distraction.

The wait in the dark
Surprise you in the park and try to put my mind at ease
Back in your room, confusions are resumed
As blue as flannel covers
Two friends suddenly lovers
Who press for a repeat or two
