David Bryan Rashbaum was born on Febuary 7th 1962 in Edison, New Jersey. He grew up with his parents Ed (a doctor) and Florence, also with his sister Michelle. On the age of 7 David started playing classical piano. He also was good in playing soccer , as good as he played in the highschool soccer-team. At the age of 14 he played in his first band „Transition", which was a kinda School-Band and they covered songs of Led Zepplin and Deep Purple. The Band performed just for fun, ´cos that was the way to attrac girls and get drunk altogether. After „Transition" follow some other local bands till John Bongiovi and David met at Sayreville High School at the age of 16. It was Jon, who got him to play keyboard. Then they played together in bands when they were about 16 years old. This band was ACE (Atlantic City Expressway, it´s the name of the Highway that runs through their hometowns in New Jersey) . ACE was a 10 Men Coverband, which played kinda Rhythm& Blues melodies and some of their own stuff. They performed on parties and some small clubs, like the Stone Pony in Asbury Park. Sometimes New Jersey Stars like Steven van Zandt, Southside Johnny or Bruce Springsteen entered the stage to play with the boys. Even though they performed till late at nite and often came too late to school, David graduated and went on to study medicine.
In 1979 David left ACE to go study classical music at Juliard College in New York City. After David left ACE Jon did the same and the band got split. At a certain Moment David got really bored with studying classical music and decided to join Jon again to make music with his old buddies. The band now was named Jon Bongiovi & the wild ones. They played good melodic music and was the basis for Bon Jovi. Jon´s Song was renewed and improved. Both, Jon and David, travelled to Los Angeles in order to promote Jon´s Demo. Unfortunately without success. But then Runaway became a part of a sampler with some Newcomer Bands og NYC and a radio station (WAPP) started playing all of this songs. When they started to play Runaway the song drew so much attention, so much that Jon could sign his first record deal at PolyGram Records in 1983. Jon put his new Band together and David went to be Bon Jovi´s Keyboardist and Background Singer.
For the first Touring through Europe David changed his name from Rashbaum into Bryan, because Rashbaum was often spelled incorrect and he was a little bit afraid of the Jewish Sound of the name.
In 1990 David got married to April Mc Lean (August,25th). They both knew each other since David was 19. On March 10th 1994 April gave birth to their kids Colton and Gabrielle (Twins). They all live together , with Dog Murray, in Colts Neck, New Jersey. David has his own studio at home, where he works on his ideas and writes songs for himself and Bon Jovi.
On Febuary 1996 David received (for the 7th time) the Metal Edge Readers Choice Award for „Best Keyboardist". His reaction:" It´s pretty amazing. It´s great. It´s an honor. It makes me feel good that my work doesn´t go unnoticed !"
But there is no need to talk about Bon Jovi anymore - the rest is history, but Dave worked on several projekts besides BJ - as there are his two Solo-Projects, the „Netherworld"-Soundtrack and his second record „On a full moon". He also worked with Richie on his Solo-Project „Stranger in this Town". There´s also a Video named „How to play Keyboard in a Rock´n`Roll Band........and we hope that a lot of stuff follows.....!!!!
