“I am NOT wearing a bow tie!”
“Oh come on, darling,” Mrs Hanson coaxed “Just this once”
“Neeeevvvvvvveeerrrrrr!!!” Isaac protested.
“Step aside, mum” Zac whispered to his mother “Watch the master at work...”
He gently pushed his mother aside and strided over to where Isaac was.
“Ike,” Zac started “Don’t you know about the effects bow ties have on girls?”
Isaac looked at him, confused. Obviously not. Zac leaned close and whispered.
“They find it very sexy” he assured.
Zac watched as his brother’s eyebrows raised considerably high in surprise.
“Ohhh...” Isaac said as if he’d just realised something very important.
Zac nodded knowingly. Isaac looked at him suspiciously.
“Then why aren’t YOU wearing one? Huh?” he questioned.
“Well,” Zac smiled cheekily “I don’t need a bow tie to be sexy...!”
Isaac pulled a sour face.
“Ha, ha” he said sarcastically.
Zac giggled mischeiviously.
Isaac turned to his little brother, a thoughtful expression seeping into his facial features.
“So, Zacyboy,” Isaac said “Seeing as your ego tells you you’re so sexy, what with you and that Joselyn girl?” Zac stopped suddenly and looked up at Isaac, surprised.
“I don’t know WHAT you’re talking about....!” He protested.
Isaac gave him a questioning look as if to say ‘yeah-right-i-really-beleive-you’.
“Oh really?” Isaac said “Then why is she coming with us tonight as YOUR partner?! Huh?”
“Cos”
“Cos... why?”
“Just cos”
“Zac! That’s not an answer!” Isaac accussed.
“It’s good enough! I don’t have to tell you anything! I have the right to remain silent - I know my rights. And besides, at least I have a partner, you’re the one who’s gonna look like a moron .... all by yourself...” Zac finished.
Isaac glared at him.
“Aw, poor baby’s getting upset” Zac teased..
“Well, I could always go with Joselyn too, there’s enough of her to go around! Ha ha ha...”
Isaac laughed.
Zac shook his head.
“Some people.......that was cruel, Ike, and you know it.”
Zac was answered by a blank stare. Isaac hadn’t seemed to have heard him. Zac waved his hand around in front of his brother’s face.
“Earth to Ike! Earth to Ike! Earth to.....” He chanted.
“Huh? What?”
Zac shook his head once more.
“I’m gonna check if Taylor’s ready. K, Ike?”
“Hmmm...”
Zac sighed and ran up the stairs to their bedroom.
Taylor was sniffing his hand when Zac burst in. But that wasn’t the first thing Zac noticed.
“Aww, Taylor! Whatcha hafta take your shoes off for? You’ve now succeeded in making this room smell worse than it did yesterday when Ike farted...”
Taylor didn’t look up from his hand.
“He’d eaten baked beans for lunch” Taylor murmurred, keeping his head lowered.
Zac then looked at Taylor.
“Umm.. Tay? What exactly do you think you’re doing?”
“Hmm? Oh.... I think my hand smells like cat food” He ‘explained’.
Zac raised his eyebrows in amusement.
“Again? Gee, what are we going to do about this problem...?”
Taylor looked at him, confused.
“But.... I never had this problem before...” He said.
“Taylor, this might be a bit hard for you to understand...but... it’s called a ....joke.”
“Ohhhh.....”
“Yeah. It might take a while for you to get used to that concept ....”
Taylor continued to stare thoughtfully at the offending hand. Zac sighed in annoyance.
“Look!” Zac said, grabbing Taylor’s hand firmly and waving it around in front of his face, “I have a small suggestion that just may come in some assistance to you. Ya see, the most common thing to do in this situation is to wash your hands” Zac advised.
“Oh. yeah....! Thanks, Zac” Taylor smiled.
“It wasn’t too much of a strain”
Taylor nodded releasing himself from Zac’s grip and heading towards the bathroom.
When Taylor had finished, Zac was ready to leave.
“So, you ready?” Zac asked.
“No.”
“Are you.......going to GET ready?”
“....yeah”
“Sometime this week?”
“Yeah”
“Preferably, now???”
“Yeah”
“Yeah” Zac mimicked.
“Yeah”
“Yeah”
“Yeah”
“Yeah”
“Dooooonnnnn’ttt!!!” Taylor whined.
Zac laughed at the site of Taylor.
“Oh, ok baby...” He cooed teasingly “I’ll leave you alone to get ready...”
With that he headed out the door.
“Thank you” Taylor responded sulkingly.
“Oh and Taylor...” Zac said, popping his head in the doorway before he left.
Taylor looked up.
“Don’t forget to put your diaper on...”
And with that, Zac slammed the bedroom door and ran down the stairs to report that no, Taylor WASN’T ready yet, leaving Taylor standing, frowning in confusion.
Half way down the stairs, Zac heard a “HEY!!!” come from the bedroom as Taylor realised he’d been insulted.
Zac simply threw his head back and laughed in a fake posh way. “Har, har..”
“Whatcha laughing at, Zac?” Isaac asked him as he collided into him speeding down the stairs.
L Zac ignored his question and stopped laughing.
“Ike......... GET YOUR FINGER OUT OF YOUR NOSE!!! ....”
Isaac blushed and looked down, at the same time retracting the offending finger.
“Ohmygod.....Ike......don’t do it....NO.....stop before it’s too late.......you’ll regret it......I’m telling you.........THOSE ARE YOUR BEST JEANS!!!.....” Zac warned in panic.
But it was too late. Isaac had wiped ‘it’ on his jeans.
Zac’s head lowered and he sighed deeply. Then he raised his head to look at Issac, who was standing there looking very guilty.
“Ike, Ike....... Clarke Isaac Hanson ......” He said, shaking his head in disapproval.
Then Zac suddenly shot his head up and shouted to the ceiling.
“WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO???”
Isaac, with a surprised look on his face, slowly retreated back to his mother in the kitchen.
“...geez...” Zac muttered before wandering into the lounge room and collapsing onto the sofa to wait for his family, in all their ‘organisation’ to finally be ready to leave.
