Tayology

The study of the "quiet" brother with the sweet soulful voice...I know this is a pretty generic definition, but how can you describe someone who is so hard to figure out and says things that someone much older would say?

Here are a few of Taylor's words of wisdom

"You have to like yourself before you can do anything"

"Everything changes"

"Being Hanson and playing our music, there's just nothing like it"

"Lets face it, we're going to be old for longer than we're going to be young, so we may as well make the most of it"

"Everybody has their opinion. That's part of life. It's fine, you know?"

FACTS ABOUT TAYLOR

I know that these are in every true fan's memory, but we need to remember that Hanson is a wonderful band and is winning over new fans everyday!

Full name: Jordan Taylor Hanson

Nicknames: Tay or Tayles

DOB: March 14, 1983, he is a Pisces

Loves the color RED: "Red candy always tastes the best and red makes things look beautiful"

Personality: Flirty, intense, embarasses easily (especially if Zac is the one doing the embarassing), friendly.

Bad habit: Tapping on everything

Has fun while...playing and singing Hanson's music of course, but he also has fun rollerblading, reading, and drawing.

Is into: Shakespeare, poetry, computers, dancing, collecting necklaces, literature, and jellybeans.

Is considered to be the lead singer of the band...according to him however, there is no lead singer in the band. He feels that Hanson is a band made up of three guys who can all sing.

Plays the keyboard, bongos, tambourine , and drums.

Calls his brother Ike his best friend...this is really good advice, sometimes you can have the most wonderful relationship with your brother or sister...I know because my sister, co-creator of this webpage is my best friend.

Has been called a daydreamer, a peacemaker, and a perfectionist.

Is taking voice lessons...How can you improve on something that already sounds absolutely wonderful?

In Kim's opinion...he has absolutely beautiful hands.

**(From Kim)**Has anyone ever noticed how Taylor looks after he is done singing a song? He looks like he is coming down off some sort of natural high. This is particularly noticeable after he is done singing "Merry Christmas Baby" on Saturday Night Live (before he rolls his eyes at Zac's noises). He looks so incredible , like he has just done the most wonderful thing in the world. I hope he never loses that look. When he does that you know how much the music really means to him. Let's hope we will always see that look in his face...it is a sign of true happiness.

Hey did anyone besides me (Kim) notice how cute Taylor sounded when he was singing "get a little bit weird" on Leno...just curious.

Here is a comment from Monica: How I see TAY: He appears to be the epitome of perfection, and yet he is flawed....however, within those flaws you see only beauty. He is the "quiet one" with a wickedly quick wit that grabs you by surprise and makes you laugh uncontrollably. He has a way of taking your breath from you...simply with a sideways glance, a soulful wail, or an energetic stomp of his foot.

Jill wrote these comments: I was watching my "homemade" tape of "ALL THINGS HANSON" and realized one reason WHY TAYLOR is CONSTANTLY on my brain. He seems to be sooooo into whatever he is singing, even if it's MMMBop for the millionth time. He closes his eyes alot and REALLY seems to be into whatever song it is. As much as I love Ike and Zac, they seem just to "bop" along with the music but with less enthusiasm (I think, at times). Like on the Leno show and on SNL, just watch Tay's face. And then when he is done, the way he steps away from his keyboard and sort of looks down or around but he never seems to really look directly into the camera, not for more than a half a second, anyway. There is something so intriguing (did I spell that right?) about his shyness. THAT certainly takes my breath away. (I mean besides his absolute perfect face, that is!).

Alexandra sent in her comments too:Taylor is the most amazing human being I've ever seen in my not-so-short life. I'm in love with his voice. But I'm sure, he's an angel, Kim, not a man! Excuse me for this... He reminds me an icon... (So, what do you think about this face?) I think he's mistake for a girl just because he's an angel. Angels are not girls or men, you know. I'm always wondering the way he looks at his brothers, especially at littlest Zac. It's a look of a love, a tenderness and...I don't know what else... You all know this look. If he's still a human being, he's incredible. I mean his heart, his soul, his - no child's - wisdom, his - again no child's - talent. (Excuse me, angels have not an age). In that case I mean his brothers too.

Jamie's thoughts:I always feel really bad saying that Taylor is my "favorite" Hanson, because I know without any one of them, the band wouldn't exist. They all share an equal role. But there is just something about Taylor, I'm not exactly sure what, that really intrigues me. Maybe it's his voice, or his eyes, or that look he gets after he's done performing (you know the one. . .looks down at his keyboards and smiles), I really don't know. I guess I just love everything about him (well. . .except for those tight pants). He is just an amazing person.

Thought from "just another fan": You know I believe one of the main reasons that attracted me to Hanson’s music was Taylor. Not of his looks, because I didn't even have a clue what Hanson looked like until I decided to buy Middle of Nowhere. It was the energy that I heard in “MMMBop” that made me want to sing it. Frankly I don't think if anyone else had been lead in that song it would have grabbed my attention as much as it did. Sure the chorus is catchy but that’s not the first thing I heard. It was Taylor’s "Ooh's" and "Yea's". Something that has now become his trademark. I think Taylor was born to sing and not just for the obvious reasons. Yes, its quite clear the boy can carry a tune well, but then again so can a lot of people. So what does he have that is so special? Charisma. The guy is a magnet. You hear him and you wanna sing with him. He just has bring so much feeling it to every line he sings. I mean lyrics help, but honestly do think anyone else could make us wonder "Where the love?" or where some kid named Johnny went for that matter?. He adds so much to a song..whether it be fun or intense. What's so amazing about all this..is that its in his nature to do so. No one taught him to sing like that. We can hear this in "3 Car Garage". Just listen to any song and its apparent. There are examples everywhere. Just listening to him sing back-up in "Two Tears", to the way he can bring something fresh to classics like in the “Silent Night Medley”. Taylor is incredible.

Nicole, Manchester Connecticut: There's alot to say about Taylor...and it amazes me that the people I have the most in common with are the ones that are most distant or far away from where I stand. I can't describe Taylor like he's sitting next to me, taking in the fact that I've never met him or known him personally. But I perceive him as probably the most awesome person ( who's let alone, a guy). It's hard to find someone so well rounded, with a love for his brothers, for music, and someone that can see life in a whole new, positive perspective. Taylor, along with his brothers, is not your everyday egoistic guy. He is grounded, with an amazing God-given talent...Taylor is charming, kind, and sensitive...he is introspective, and his absolute passion is music, clearly seen in his whole- hearted effort during performing -- a.k.a. The greatful, yet reserved smile that tears across his face when the song is over..I also noticed he loves his siblings. That is rare in this day and age, having a sister/brother is one of the best things that could ever happen to you...believe it or not. I am 14- and I have 4 sisters, but my best friend is my twin sister...that's another thing which is exemplary about Taylor. He has a large, wonderful family, a sucessful band, numerous things...he doesn't take any one of those things for granted. Taylor is as he said, "the quite one...obviously". But he can also have that weird, energetic streak jump out...similar to Zac's common antics. Taylor has alot of sides to him, and it's hard to figure someone out through little interviews and music performances... I'm not saying everything I wrote is true, I'll probably never know unless some day I meet him. But from what I've seen, these are a few traits and anecdotes that I have noticed. Hanson is an awesome band, and they will be around for a long, long time. :o)

From the Cornflake girl:Let me just say that I love Hanson, all three of them, and their music just means so much to me. But let me also say that I am so totally *gone* when it comes to Taylor. ;-) The very first time I saw him perform on TV, after which he just sort of looked down and smiled *that* smile, I just about died. It's not just the fact that he's one hell of a good looking kid. It's more the fact that when he's singing, it's really hard to concentrate on anything else. I can say without a doubt that music is his *soul*, because I have never seen anyone who's able to FEEL every single word they sing the way he does. I can't quite put to words what his voice does to me. And there's the fact that he's just so incredibly charming, and sweet, and funny, and witty... there are many sides to him...the serious one, the hyper, almost-like-Zac side. He also strikes me as being really intelligent...he doesn't speak like your average 15 year old guy, that's for sure. It's hard to describe him in just a few words. Also, there's the obvious fact that he loves his brothers and his family, and is not at all afraid to show it. There's the fact that he can *laugh off* all the insults that come his way about looking like a girl. A guy who's a worldwide teen idol, but who still hugs his mom before going onstage. He could have warts on his face and hair growing out of his nose, but he'd still be one VERY beautiful person.

A thought from Jen: Taylor, Taylor, Taylor...what can I say??? He's perfect. Sure, he may have imperfections, but that's what makes him so lovable! Taylor is the great friend you always wished for, but never had. He's the great listener you had hoped to have by you when you poured your heart out, but he was never really there. He's the light to guide you, through life and all it's problems. Basically, he's just one heck of a guy, with an enormous amount of talent...not to mention that he's a total heartthrob!! *sigh* If only I could meet him!

Here are Emily's thoughts: I think he is probably the sweetest guy I've ever met...technically speaking. He knows just what to say to get people feeling good. Yet, he can be serious too. He can say just about anything at anytime to lighten a situation or make someone laugh. He has the best voice I've ever heard too. I am in chior at my school so I hear alot of voices. Plus, even though Ike and Zac have wonderful voices too, but Taylor's to me is the best, because it is powerful(much like Ike's) yet still soft and gentle(much like Zac's) And, he has the biggest range of the group. Not to mention he is extremely cute!

Shelby's thoughts about Taylor: Taylor Hanson, there are no words that can describe him and yet I could go on about him all day. He is an awesome individual. Nothing brings me more joy then to see him performing cause this is when I feel he is at his best, truly Tay. He loves what he does the proof is in those eyes that sparkles and that shy smile that exudes the warmth of the sun. Just look at how expressive and intense he is. He puts his whole heart and soul into what he does and becomes one with the music. Just listen to that voice so full of character and passion. So much so, that it grabs a hold of my soul and stirs up my emotions leaving me speechless and in awe. And at that moment all I can think is "Thank you God, thank you for this beautiful soul". This beautiful soul that warms my heart, that loves his family and life. he gives so much of himself and probably doesn't even realize it. He is kind, appriciative and personable. He is sweet and modest, and has a stong belief in himself and his brothers. I also think he has somewhat of a mysterious side to him which I find very appealing :0) . True he may be awesome to look at and at times I find he takes my breath away but I think it is his inner beauty revealing itself in everything he does that takes my breath away. I'd like to leave you with this image of him, it is this image of him that even when he's old and gray is how I will remeber Tay, (it is from TT&MON) A camera scans over this amazing scenery of the beach seranaded by waves crashing on the shore, seagulls, and a simple yet beautifully haunting piano melody. Just when you think there could be nothing more breathtaking then this awesome site the camera focuses on him, Taylor. Your heart skips a beat and the first word that pops into your head "Angel". Then he turns to look at the camera and for that brief moment, looking into those stunning blue eyes you see his soul. His dad ask's him "how were the caves?", and in a soft voice (that I can still hear in my head) he answers "they're sweet......"

Oh and I gotta say I love the way he sings the word "baby" (i.e. "Look at You" and "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). Oh and I agree with Kim, HE HAS BEAUTIFUL HANDS!

Oh by the way my name is Shelby Taylor(and yes that is my real last name, its funny because i will talk to other Hanson fans and they will go "is Taylor really your last name?" and its like yes that was my last name before I even knew about Hanson. Not that, that was of any importance but just thought I would tell you. Although I do have a nephew who's name is Jordan Taylor and that is kinda weird) and I am 19 years old. Love your page!

Catherine's thoughts about Taylor: When I saw him on TV for the first time, something almost instantly drew me to him. I didn't know what it was at first, so I concluded that Taylor Hanson had to be the most perfect-looking guy I'd ever seen. But now I realize it's not that. I've heard him compared to an Angel more then once, and when you see him on the outside, you think he's perfect. But the thing that makes him so attractive is that beneath all his perfection are so many imperfections. I think there's this truely beautiful person inside of him that he doesn't want to show people, because he's afraid no one will like him. You can see his insecurities in his eyes by the way he doesn't hold eye contact for very long. The way he gets so excited when he's performing live shows you how into the music he is, but when asked how cool it is to be performing he'll just smile and try to act cool about it. And all that makes him more real :o)

Abigail: My Thoughts on Tay: Taylor is so wow...(that's all I can say..pathetic huh?) If you've seen him perform live you can tell he is enjoying every ounce of energy, every once of hapiness produced by the fans. It's like heaven to him. Kim, girl, you're right...he's got beautiful hands. No wonder he plays the keyboards like he does. (hey he can play the drums too...that rocks!) He's so sweet, charismatic, smart, flirty (what I like...hehe) and so much more underneath. He has an air of mystery. He makes my heart beat faster when I see him. I'm so glad that he is so grounded and is modest. He knows he has a LOT of admirers, but he doesn't want to be in the spotlight. But you all know he enjoys it. It shows in his beautiful smile.

Sabrina age 10: I think Taylor is so fine. I mean he's serious but can be funny sometimes. He's got baby blue eyes. He's sings great. What's not to like? Well anyway I think that Tay has a great focous on life. He just go's with anything that comes to him. It's awesome to see that he likes his fans so much and how much he's into making music for the world with his brothers. Even though I'm only ten I still find him very casual with what's around him. What I mean is he dosen't brag or think that he's so great because he's in the best band he's just happy that he's alive and healthy and able to play his music. I think that he's a great role model for us kids he tells us that if we want something and we work really hard we can suceed. So please post this because I love Tay.

Nicole...Hey. Let me ask you a question. Is it that bad that I like Hanson? Of course not. Everytime I get asked "whos your favorite band Nicole?" and I answer Hanson and they start to laugh like crazy. I don't get it at all. Do you? Well.. I have to tell the truth about something. One day in '97 I saw the "MMMBop" video for the first time and when I saw it I thought Tay was a girl. Which of course I bet everybody thought so too (no offence Tay) and when I found out that Tay was a guy I swear I fell in love and all I know him for was just a great singer with a soft loving voice. Then I read more and more about him.. I grow more attached to him. I know I can't say I love Tay because I never met him or something like that but everybody does anyway. Some people just love Tay or Zac or Ike cause their famous and young and hot and the some people love them for who they are and for what they do. And one of them is me. Everyday when I'm on the computer and I'm in a chat I see people calling Hanson names and stuff and they are fans too! Think. What kinda fans are that? What I think of a true Hanson fan is someone who truly loves them and when somebody says something about Hanson they stand up to them and they love them for who they are. I know I'm not making sence but I just have to say what I say and I don't know what you guys think but I said what I said and I'm glad :) yup yup yup! I'm a true Hanson fan. But you guys think I can't call myself that but I fell as if I am. And I'm not just another girl who fell for Tay and Hanson for their good looks I fell for them for what they do and who they are. They are talented, smart, funny, very funny, and good at what they do and I hope they do music for ever! -
