The Blue Smarties, Teeth like sheep (Grape Star) CD
One afternoon in 1990 I was lying on the grass in a field near
Leicester watching The Blue Smarties play a set of chirpy-yet-grim
beatbox pop songs, occasionally bunging in one that sounded an
awful lot like The Blue Aeroplanes or a Sinead O'Connor
cover. Having forgotten about them in the intervening seven years and
only being reminded via a long and complicated train of events, I now
find myself clutching their only CD and reminiscing while it
plays. The surprising thing is that, despite the look-back factor,
it's really not that bad and the measly two quid they're asking for it
is worth "Baby suction head" and "Cough boy blues" on their own. PO
Box 6358, London, N16 5DQ.
