Stubborn/The Saffs @ The Boatrace, Cambridge
The Saffs--not from Saffron Walden thankfully, they were formerly
Saffron's Daughter--peddle a familiar brand of trebly guitar
pop. Think Mega City 4 and Ludicrous Lollipops, although with a
tendency to stretch the songs a little longer than either. They jump
around alot, made easier on this occasion by soundman Rob
gaffer-taping the guitar-player's dungarees up!
No such problem for Stubborn, their sartorial choice being long shorts
with adequate support..and the music can stand up for itself
too. There's no getting away from the Rage Against the Machine
comparisons, but with the odd bit of extra percussion and a tendency
towards hardcore, there's plenty of originality to come.
