ROBOTS & ELECTRONIC BRAINS

Trans Am @ The Garage, London

Paranoia. The intensity of this music that seems to seethe with a desire to hide and get away. Be it a brutal look into the abyss or just naggingly uncomfortable, the tense music of the 'Surveillance' era provides a curiously tangible sense of feeling and leaves you restless. Lest it becomes too much, they chop into the floating moods of 'Surrender To The Night' and you feel like you can afford to let go. But, before you've lost it completely, they're forcing you to look into some kind of machinistic future with a set of new tunes. These come complete with vocodered vocals and edgy percussive instrumentation. Is it a musical exploration or is it a mechanical abhoration? Find your own answer.(Drew)
