What if everyone on earth got amnesia?
Would we all be like lost children trying to find our way home?
And would we finally be able to let the past go away?
Do we have to forget who we are before we all get along?
I think maybe we do.
I heard about this old native man once. When asked by a young white man the question of
"Do you blame me for how native people get treated?"
And he said
"No. But, if in 15 years things are the same, blame will be at least partially yours."
If the world got amnesia
maybe we'd forget the little differences that set us apart.
The tiny differences
How about this:
everyone gets it but me.
Then I can go on a great loudspeaker
and tell everyone
"You were all very nice to each other before this affliction."
"There is good in all of you."
And other such lies.
Well, they're only lies if you don't believe in them, I guess.
And I'm not sure that second one is a lie.
It might be, I'm not sure.
It might not be, I'm sure.
But I guess I'd be king
of everyone without memory.
And my rule would be great and powerful.
