Chapter Three
Erin was, again, speechless. She was both frightened and intrigued by her newfound knowledge.
Kevin looked at her strangely, "Hey...are you okay ?"
She hesitated, "Ummm, uh...yeah. I'm fine."
Brian put his hand on her shoulder, "You sure ?"
"Yeah, sure." Erin answered confidently.
Just then a thunderous sound filled the basement.
Erin jumped, somewhat startled, "What the..."
"Oh, hey guys !" Brian greeted.
The sound had come from the three guys ( Nick, AJ & Howie ) when the came running down the stairs.
"A bit jumpy are we ?" Brian asked Erin.
"No..." she defended "just a little startled."
Nick came running up to Brian, Erin and Kevin...while Howie and AJ walked behind him.
"I have a great idea !" Nick gushed.
"And what's that ?" asked Brian.
"Well, since it's such a nice day...why don't we go spend it at Disney ?!" Nick suggested.
"Sounds like fun to me !" Erin agreed.
"Yeah, we should get out of the house." Kevin added.
"Who's car are we going to take ?" AJ questioned.
"Well, since it's already in the driveway...we can take mine." suggested Erin. "But there's no way it'll fit all of us !"
"Then we can take mine too." Howie offered.
"Cool !" Brian exclaimed. "Let's go then !"
"Hang on..." Erin started "where's your bathroom ?"
"It's up the stairs, make a left..." Brian stopped "ya know what, I'll just show you !"
"Good idea, I probably would have gotten lost !" Erin laughed.
Erin followed Brian up the basement stairs then up more stairs to the second floor. The upstairs was huge, and very confusing. They followed a few hallways and finally came to the bathroom ( the only one that was finished, anyway ).
"Do you think you can find your way back, or do you want me to wait ?!" Brian joked.
"Hmm...I'm pretty sure I can do it !" Erin assured him.
"Okay then, see you back downstairs." Brian said as he walked away.
Erin softly closed the door behind her, leaned against it, and let out a long sigh.
"Oh my gosh !" she whispered. "It was Kevin's voice !!!"
"But how ?" she thought to herself. "I haven't seen him in years !"
She was getting more and more frustrated by the minute. She couldn't figure it out. Finally, she gave up, thinking it would come to her sooner or later.
Erin walked over to the sink and looked at her reflection in the mirror.
"Hmm..." she said aloud as she reached into her pocket and pulled out her compact.
"That should do the trick." Erin said, patting the puff on her face, then returning the compact to her pocket.
She then opened the door, turned off the light and made her way back down the hallway to the steps that lead downstairs.
After a short search, Erin came to the stairs. Slowly, she descended down them and shortly reached the foyer.
Then she spotted the brown bag sitting on the small table. She had forgotten all about the McDonald's when Brian had pulled her to meet his friends.
Erin picked up the bag and decided that now was as good a time as any to present her surprise to them.
That's chapter three !!! More to come !!!!
