Chapter Nine
Erin awoke the next morning to the sound of the phone ringing.
Thinking it was Kevin, she quickly picked the phone up off her nightstand.
"Hello ?" she greeted.
"Hi !" said the caller.
"Oh, hi Nicole." Erin said back.
"Gee, don't sound so happy to talk to me or anything !" Nicole joked.
"Oh, no. Nothing like that...I'm sorry !!" Erin apologized.
"It's okay. So, who were you expecting to call ?" questioned Nicole.
"You know how I told you about my friend Brian ?" Erin asked.
"Yeah, the one in the Backstreet Boys ?" said Nicole.
"Yeah, him. Well, yesterday I went to his house and I met all the other guys and saw his cousin, Kevin, who I haven't talked to in years." continued Erin. "Well, we spent the whole day at Disney World and Kevin and I really hit it off. He said he would call me this morning, that's who I thought it was." explained Erin.
"Oh, I see. Are you two doing something today ?" Nicole asked.
"Later on tonight, he invited me to their concert." said Erin. "Hey...do you want to come ?!"
"Yeah, sure !! That would be great !" gushed Nicole.
"Well, I was planning on going to the mall in a little bit, to find something to wear tonight. Want me to pick you up ?" Erin asked.
"Sure...what time ?" questioned Nicole.
"I was planning on noon." replied Erin.
"Ok...I'll be ready." Nicole agreed. "See you then."
"Alright...bye." said Erin.
The two girls hung up and Erin started to get ready to go out. She quickly showered and did her hair and make up. She picked a new pair of jeans and her orange shirt from Abercrombie & Fitch.
When she was dressed, Erin poured herself a cup of coffee, grabbed her keys and purse, and left the house.
Erin drove to Nicole's house with the radio turned up and the windows open.
She arrived there at about quarter to twelve. She walked up to the front door and walked right in.
"Hey, Nic...where are you ?" Erin yelled.
"I'm up here !" Nicole called from the upstairs bathroom.
"Oh, okay. Are you decent ? Cause I'm coming up !" Erin said.
"Yeah, I'm almost ready...come on up." replied Nicole.
"So...how are you today ?" Erin asked.
"Just fine. And you ?" returned Nicole.
"I'm REALLY good !!!" Erin said excitedly.
"Hmm...that's almost suspicious ! But I'm not gonna ask." laughed Nicole as she walked into her bedroom.
"Anyway, were you planning on buying anything for the concert tonight ?" asked Erin.
"I'm not sure." replied Nicole uncertainly. "I guess if I see something I'll get it. Oh, by the way...did Kevin call ?"
"No, not yet, but Brian has my cell phone number, so he'll call me on that." answered Erin.
Just as Erin finished her sentence, her phone rang.
"Well, speak of the devil !!" joked Nicole.
Erin held a finger up to her mouth then answered her phone.
"Hello ?" she said.
"Hey there, cutie !!" Kevin said.
"Oh, hi Kevin !!" Erin replied with a huge smile on her face.
"So, you ready for tonight ?" he asked.
"Umm, I was just about to go shopping for something to wear. But otherwise, I'm psyched !!" Erin beamed.
"Well, I was planning on picking you up around five...is that okay ?" asked Kevin.
"That's great !" agreed Erin. "Oh, I was wondering, is it okay if my friend, Nicole, comes along ?"
"Yeah, that's fine. Besides, I wouldn't want you sitting all by yourself in that audience of crazed girls !" Kevin said.
( that's just a joke...no one get offended ! )
"Okay...cool ! The we will see you at five. Bye, Kev." Erin said, ending the conversation.
"Bye...see you in a while." Kevin responded.
Erin then hung up the phone and placed it back in her purse.
"So, Nicole, are you ready ?" questioned Erin.
"Yup, sure am." answered Nicole, as she emerged from her bedroom wearing jeans and a black Calvin Klein shirt.
"Let's go then." Erin said impatiently.
"Yeah, yeah..." Nicole mumbled as she grabbed her purse and followed Erin.
The two girls get into the car and headed toward the mall.
Nicole switched on the radio and "As Long As You Love Me" was playing ( of course ! ). The girls started singing along at the top of their lungs. They didn't care if people were staring...they were enjoying themselves.
Erin and Nicole were so wrapped up in singing that, before they knew it, they were at the mall.
