Yes! The former home of James Paul McCartney is finally open and ready to be viewed
by us, the fans!!!
The National Trust purchased the house last year and as of the 21st July 1998,
the public can view the house, inside and out, for themselves.
It comes over 35 years since Paul left the house, where he lived as a child with
his mother, Mary, father, James, and brother, Mike (of the Scaffold).
Tragically, at the age of 14 he lost his mother to breast cancer, which is the disease
that killed his dear wife, Linda.
It's the fact that this was the place where many a Lennon/McCartney hit was penned. The most
<
famous for instance was LOVE ME DO!!!
I visited the house last week before it opened. And since my last visit, there has been
many changes.
The windows are now wooden framed, the original front door is now back on, the garden has
been redesigned and put back to what it looked like in the 50s and the front fence is now gone
and replaced by a red bar (how it was in the Macca days!)
The photo above was taken three days before the official opening last week.
