Chapter Thirteen

After Chris was done introducing them, Justin and Sidney just stood there staring at one another. She had planned on talking to Justin anyway but this situation had caught her off guard. Chris looked back and forth between them wondering what was up. "Ok, I'm guessing you two know each other, right?"

Sidney finally snapped out of her daze. "Um...yeah we met at my uh... my party."

"Ah, and Justin do you remember how to talk also?"

"Um...yeah we've met."

"Riiight, I think I'll go get me something to eat while you two come back to earth."

Chris walked upstairs and Justin and Sidney were left alone. A rush of intense heat came over Sidney as she looked at Justin. He looked so damn good even in casual clothes. He had on a pair of baggy khakis, a blue satin shirt open with a wifebeater underneath, and a pair of blue tinted sunglasses.

"So...how have been?" he asked running his hand through his brown curls.

Sidney knew she had to keep her cool and not let him see through her. "Pretty good, and you?"

"I'm doing good."

"So, you're friends with Chris?"

"Yeah, I've known him for a while, what about you?"

"Me too, I've been friends with Theresa for a really long time." Another moment of silence came up as the situation became more awkward. She finally decided to say what she really wanted to say. "Look Justin, let's cut the crap and say what we really feel."

Justin looked up at Sidney and took his sunglasses off. "That's fine with me, why don't you start."

"Fine I will. First off don't expect me to apologize for what I said before. Secondly I don't really care that you've reconciled with your ex and lastly the only thing keeping me from leaving right now is a promise I made to JC."

"Are you done?"

"Yeah, for now," she said crossing her arms.

"Ok, I don't expect any apologies, my ex and I are not back together and I'm really glad you made that promise to JC."

Sidney just looked at him. How could he be so cool and calm after she just bawled him out? "So you and Kim aren't together?" Sidney cringed at the question that came out of her mouth.

"No, why?"

Sidney saw a slight smirk cross Justin's face and she knew he realized he had her. "It's just that I got a visit from Miss Clayton today and she said otherwise."

"Don't worry about what she told you."

"Why would I be worried?"

"I think you were a little jealous." Justin's smile got bigger.

"WHAT?? JEALOUS!!"

"It's okay Sid, I understand completely." Justin was ready to laugh as Sidney's face got redder.

"I...I was never jealous of her! You two can go elope for all I care and..." Before Sidney could finish her sentence, Justin grabbed her and put his lips to hers. Sidney relaxed and relished the taste of him again. She wrapped her arms around his neck as his tongue massaged hers. She then knew that through all of her searching she had finally found the man with the key to her heart.

On the other side of town in a quiet neighborhood outside LA, JC was at home finishing up a new song he was writing and performing with Janet Jackson. He was in his basement which was set up like Chris's. He lost his train of thought when he heard small footsteps coming down the stairs.

"Daddy!"

JC turned around as his son jumped in his lap. "Hey little man, how you'd like staying with grandma?"

"We went to the zoo!"

"Oooo that sounds like fun." JC looked up to see Laura come downstairs.

"We had a great time, you have to stay over again soon, okay?"

Tyler got off of JC and gave Laura a hug and kiss. JC got up and hugged Laura also. "Thanks Laura."

"Oh no, thank you JC. You're doing a fine job raising my grandson." JC smiled. "Well, I have to get going and I'll see you soon sweetie," Laura said rubbing Tyler's cheek.

"Bye-bye Grandma!"

"Bye Laura."

Laura went upstairs and left. JC went back to his desk to put his things away while Tyler sat on the floor playing with one of his action figures. JC looked over at him and smiled to himself. JC hoped Laura was right about him raising Tyler. Everything he did came second to his son. JC always thought about how better it would be if Tracy was still alive. Tyler looked just like his Mom. He had a soft mop of sandy blond hair, bright green eyes and a perfect pair of dimples. JC remembered that he noticed Tracy's dimples when he first saw her. They were going to get married after Tyler was born. JC had never loved anyone like he loved Tracy and thought about her everyday. He had a 24-7 reminder of Tracy through Tyler. JC felt his emotions swell up as he wiped a tear from his eye. He was just getting ready to go over to Tyler when the phone rang.

"Hello?"

"May I speak to JC, please?"

"Speaking."

"Oh hi JC, this is Michelle, do you remember me?"

"Michelle...oh yeah I met you at Sid's party, right?"

"Yeah, I was just calling to say hi."

"It's great to hear from you, so how are you?"

"Oh I'm good and what about you?"

"I'm just getting ready to take my son to the park."

"Oh I'm sorry for bothering you, I call again later."

"No, it's okay...hey you wanna come with us?"

"To the park? Sure I'd love to."

"Okay we'll pick you up."

"That's fine let me give you my address."

As JC looked for a pen, Michelle knew that this was her chance to ignite something between her and JC. JC couldn't believe he invited Michelle to the park with him and his son. He had never done that before with any woman. JC had always been really cautious about women since Tracy but maybe this Michelle wasn't that bad after all.
