Chapter Nine

The next morning Sidney woke up and sleepily looked at the clock...it's about 9:30am. Sunlight poured into her all white room giving off a brilliant glow. She rolled over to embrace Justin but found an empty space in the bed instead. A wave of disappointment swept over her as she remembered the events of the night before. She had never been so sexually fulfilled in her life but she was never into the one night fling either. She got up and slipped on her robe. All of Justin's clothes were gone and she sadly realized he really was gone.

I can't believe I had sex with someone I barely knew. What's wrong with me?

Sidney tried to figure out a reason for her actions but couldn't come up with a clear cut answer. She was always being approached by men but she always regretted them. She had only been intimate with 2 other men besides Justin. And she dated each of them for at least 8 months before sleeping with them. And then Justin comes along and he has her in one night. Sidney sighed and headed downstairs to the kitchen. She poured herself a cup of oj, grabbed a bran muffin and went out onto her deck overlooking the ocean. It was a beautiful morning and she couldn't help but wish Justin was there with her. She tried desperately to block him out of her mind but she couldn't.

How could he just leave like that? Did he just want sex? What an asshole.

Sidney finished off her muffin and went back inside. She was on her way back upstairs when she heard the phone ringing and ran to pick it up.

"Hello?"

"Sidney, you're up?"

"Justin, is that you?"

"Yeah."

"You have some nerve calling here after what you did!"

"No, it's not like that, Sid! I had alot of things to take care of and I didn't want to wake you."

"Whatever, it was a mistake anyway."

There was silence on the other end for a moment. "So you regret what happened between us?"

"Of course. I'm not usually the one time girl and I'm ashamed of myself."

"Well, I don't regret it."

"Why should you? You're a guy and an actor. You guys only think about money, status and sex."

"That's not fair."

"It's reality Justin."

"The reality is that I still want to be with you."

"No, that's a fantasy! Justin it would never have worked out anyway so why not just leave it?"

"Because I can't just forget about you."

"That's your problem and I have more important things to worry about than how you feel."

"So that's it then?"

"Yeah, that's it."

"Fine."

"Good-bye Justin, see ya around I guess."

"Not according to you, you won't," he said before hanging up. Sidney slammed the phone down and went upstairs. She put on a pair of black biker shorts, a yellow sports bra, her tennis shoes, and put her hair into a high pony tail. She ran downstairs and out the door. Whenever she became really upset or stressed out, she would go running along the beach. It cleared her mind of her problems and she felt more relaxed. She finally got back home about an hour and a half later. She felt more at ease and calm, but she still thought her convo with Justin. She was on her way to get into the shower when the phone rang again. She was tempted not to answer but found herself picking up the receiver.

"Hello?"

"Sid, where have you been? I've called you like 10 times!"

"Michelle, what's so urgent?"

"Well, I thought you'd want to see the shots I got of the show."

"Oh yeah, how'd they turn out?"

"Really good! You'll love them."

"That's good. I'll stop by your place later."

"Okay, there's something else also."

"What is it?"

"I kinda met a guy at the party after the show."

"Who?"

"His name is JC. You know, the Grammy winner."

"Of course I know. He's a friend of mine."

"Are you serious?!"

"Yeah, why? Are you interested?"

"Maybe."

"Now that I think about it, you two would be great together."

"My thoughts exactly. He was so mature and such a gentleman and not too mention extremely hot."

"Yeah, but he doesn't really date that often."

"Oh, why?"

"Well, do you know about his son?"

"Yeah, he mentioned him last night."

"He's a single father."

"Yeah, he said that too."

"Do you know why he's raising Tyler by himself?"

"No."

"His girlfriend, Tyler's Mom, died in labor."

"Oh my God."

"Yeah. He really loved her and I don't think he's been the same since."

"I didn't know that."

"Well, if you are interested, just be careful because it's a delicate situation."

"Okay, thanks Sid."

"No problem, I'll see you later."

"Okay, bye."

"Bye."

Sidney hung up the phone and went upstairs. She took a quick shower and got dressed. She wore a pair of fitted denim capris, a red halter top, a a pair of red strappy sandals. She checked her pager on her way out the door; Jilly had paged her twice, Alexis three times, and Theresa once. She also noticed a number that wasn't familiar to her. She repeated it over in her mind and finally figured out who it belonged to.

Wow I haven't heard from him in a while.

Sidney smiled to herself. She couldn't wait to return the call of, who she considered her best platonic friend.
