The Riot House was one of Josh and Justin's favorite
swing clubs. They were
very well known there and walked right in. "Oh yeah!"
Justin yelled as they
walked through the mass of people. The place was packed and everyone looked like they were all
having a good time. "Lets go Josh. We have to show these
clowns how it's
done!" Josh and Justin made their way to the dance floor
and began to do
what they did best...dance!
"Vicky baby, lets get down," Justin said grabbing a girl's hand. Victoria Goosenberg had been with Justin for a while. Justin was known as a womanizer but had changed his ways after meeting Victoria. Everyone made a circle around them as they danced. "You're the king of swing Justin!" Josh yelled. Justin finished off by throwing Victoria over his back. Everyone cheered and began dancing again.
"You're great baby," Justin said kissing Victoria. "That's what you always say!"
"And for good reasons."
Justin and Victoria made their way off the floor but Josh was distracted by something. Justin walked back to where Josh was standing.
"Lets see, what has caught your attention." Justin followed Josh's stare to a girl standing on the side. "Oh, very nice." Victoria walked up behind Justin and put her arms around his waist.
"What are you two looking at?"
"Some vixen has caught Josh's eye."
"Oh, that's Samantha."
Josh turned to Victoria. "You know her?"
"Yeah, we went to the same school."
"Vicky, you have to introduce me." "Me? Why? You never had problems approaching girls before."
"I know I know...so will you?" Josh asked with a smile.
"Oh okay, I'll be right back."
Josh and Justin watched as Victoria walked over to the girl. "Hey Sam." The girl turned to Victoria.
"Vicky! How are you?"
"Good and you?"
"I'm okay."
"That's good. Look, there's someone I want you to meet, if that's okay."
"Of course."
Josh saw the girls talk for a bit and then start to walk back toward him. "Okay Justin, don't say anything to blow this for me, got it?"
"Who me?" Justin said with an innocent look.
"Remember Katherine?"
"Oh come on, she was dull anyway."
Josh smiled and shook his head. Josh felt a tap on his shoulder and turned around. There stood Victoria with the girl he was admiring from afar.
"Samantha, this is Josh. Josh I'd like you to meet Samantha."
Josh took Samantha's hand and kissed it. "Pleasure."
"Oh no, the pleasure's all mine," he said.
"Well, we'll leave you two to get to know eachother," Vicky said grabbing Justin's arm.
"Yeah, good luck getting to 'know' her," Justin whispered to Josh.
He frowned at Justin and elbowed him in the stomach. Vicky and Justin walked back on the dance floor and left Josh and Samantha standing there. "So, I've never seen you here before," Josh said finally.
"Oh, well I've always loved the music but this is my first time coming to a club."
"Are you enjoying yourself?"
"I think it's looking up now," she said smiling.
"Would you like to dance?"
"I loved to." Josh and Samantha joined everyone on the dance floor. Josh was taken back at how great of a dancer she was. Samantha thought Josh was extremely attractive and a very good dancer. The hours went by and the 4 finally decided to leave. Justin began walking Vicky home as Josh and Samantha stood outside the club.
"I can walk you home," Josh said.
"Oh you don't have to."
"Now what kind of gentlemen would I be if I let you walk home alone?"
Samantha smiled and looked at the ground. "Okay, you can walk with me."
"That's more like it."
The night was cold and the streets were empty. Josh noticed Samantha was shivering some. He took his jacket off and slipped it around Samantha's shoulders. She looked at him and smiled. "Thanks." They walked on some more in silence. "So Josh, what do you do?"
"Well, I work at a bookstore for now. At least until my writing gets off the ground."
"You're an author?"
"Someday I'd like to be."
"You have plenty of time Josh, and I'm sure you're very talented." Samantha noticed Josh blush at her compliment. "I'd like to read your work sometime."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Okay, that'd be great."
"Oh, this is where I live."
"Nice place," Josh said looking at the house.
"Thank you for walking with me," she said handing him his jacket.
"No problem."
"Well, I had a great time tonight."
"Me too. Would you like to do it again sometime?"
"I'd like that."
"Ok, great." "Goodnight Josh."
"Goodnight." Josh watched as she went inside. He smiled to himself as he walked away.
"Shhhh," Victoria said. Her and Justin were at her front door.
"Come on baby, let me come in."
"I told you we can't tonight and don't give me that sad look either."
"Please."
"Do you want my parents to find you in my room?!"
"I can be quiet," Justin said kissing her neck.
"I'm serious Justin," she said gently pushing him back.
"Fine."
"Now don't be mad." "I'm not. I guess I can wait until tomorrow."
"Who said anything about tomorrow?" Vicky said smiling.
"Aren't you the tease tonight!"
"Goodnight Justin!"
"Night baby." Justin kissed Vicky and she went inside. He looked up at her window until he saw her bedroom light go on. She peered out the window and blew him a kiss and he pretended to catch it. He then began to make his way home. On his way home he saw 4 boys walking toward him. As he got closer he noticed their Nazi uniforms. As Justin walked by, one of them bumped his shoulder. "Watch where you're going," Justin said.
"What'd you say," one of the boys said.
Justin turned around. "I said watch it."
"I think this swing kid is addressing us boys." The boys started surrounding Justin. Justin saw one of the boys lunge for him but he dodged him. Another boy caught Justin off guard as Justin felt his fist in his stomach. Justin recovered quickly and dealt a serious blow to the boy's jaw. Another boy charged Justin, pushing him hard against the brick wall. Justin threw the boy off of him as he saw another one coming toward him. They were all advancing now. Justin was a good fighter but he knew the odds were against him. Just then he saw a glimmer of hope. Two other boys came up behind the Nazis and jumped them. Justin joined in. There was soon a huge brawl which ended in the Nazis retreating in defeat. Justin rested against a pole as his comrades walked up to him.
"You okay Justin?"
"Yeah, thanks to you two."
"You're lucky Lance and I were passing by." Lance and Joseph were friends of Josh and Justin. After talking to them a little while longer, Justin finally got home. He quietly snuck up to his room and shut his door. He undressed and climbed into bed. His stomach was throbbing but he'd live. He had been in plenty of fights with the Nazis before. He hated them and all they stood for. Unbeknownst to Justin, he and everyone he loved would soon be affected greatly by the Nazi world.
