10-1 "Rick Rude has been sidelined in hospital as of late; the 'Ravishing One' has been diagnosed with testicular cancer. Aside from that, little more is known about his condition.
We here at TBR wish him the best of luck as he prepares to enter the toughest fight of his life. Rude is considered perhaps the greatest modern day U.S. Champion is WCW history and has had some VERY memorable stints in the WWF, WCW, and ECW. There is no word right now on if/when Rude will make his return WCW."(Strait from TBR)
ULTIMO DRAGON TO RETIRE?
According to the latest Sharpshooter, Dave Meltzer reported that
The Ultimo Dragon is being told to retire. Yoshihiro Asai had
recently been expected to spend the remainder of his career in
WCW, as it would be easier on his body (with bad ankles ) than
performing the more high-octane matches commonly in Japan.
According to the story, Dragon, 31, he will be out of action for
at least six more months intead of the original one month expected.
Mark Madden's WCW Hotline Update (courtesy of Scotsman / Seeker)
- Congratulates Jericho on his World Title victory over Goldberg.
Perhaps Madden's little acknowledgment of how truly bad the
Fallbrawl PPV was. Many called Jericho's victory over the
fake "Goldberg" the only entertaining segment on the show.
- Duggan will be a Good Will officer for WCW once he gets better.
His surgery was a success.
- All WCW wrestlers are exclusively dedicated to WCW Contracts,
meaning Mexican wrestlers can't work Mexican shows without
permission and so on. La Parka has been suspended for that.
Another example is Hector Garza supposedly nursing an injury worked a
Mexican show, so he fought Juventud a few weeks back. Psychosis may
also be working in Mexico and they are investigating it. He says that
the Mexicans get more money from WCW than ever working in Mexico. He
says that Silver King and Juventud Guerrera are two definite WCW
Mexican wrestlers who are not working Mexican shows, because they are
each moving to Florida shortly.
- The Fake Warrior was the Renegade. He hid under the ring for the
whole show, did the appear/disappear, and the real Warrior ran in,
and sustained a few injuries.
- There is going to be a new Wolfpack member and it could
be Rey Misterio Jr. once he returns from his knee surgery.
- He says that since Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross are in the Andy
Kaufmann movie, Jimmy Hart, who did play a big role in Kaufmann's
Memphis career, could not be in it.
Lawler and Jim Carrey, playing his arch enemy Kaufman in the
movie, got into a physical confrontation on set, reportedly
due to Carrey's elaborate antics. Carrey has been known as a
difficult star to act with at times.
- ECW signed Tammy Lynn Sytch for 5 years. He says that with the
money she's getting she can get some new revealing clothes, but
that's what he hopes she spends it on.
- Taz was arrested for exposing himself to a 15 year old girl and
spent the weekend in jail in Pittsburgh.
Dave Scherer confirmed that report on 1wrestling.com -
he is now back at home in New York.
- Wrestling with Shadows, the Bret Hart movie, will air on A&E in
December and be on video before that. Dave Meltzer says it's the
most honest movie about wrestling ever made. This covers from July
1997 to November of 1997 where Vince fixed the finish to his World
Championship match with Shawn Michaels. He thinks Bret got screwed.
- He has a friend that has an Austin Rules/Goldberg Sucks T-shirt and
it does have a WWF Copyright notice on it and says that we'll see
where it goes from there.
