Shots from 1999 Rotterdam World Domination Round 1

German National Champion Daniel Schneider plays Corp against me in the Sealed Deck tourney. On his t-shirt, you can see the "Seehunde" ("seals") logo of his Kiel Netrunner team. After Daniel's first turn (Night Shift, Edgerunner, 6 bits in pool), I face ICE in front of R&D and HQ. In my starting hand, you can see Databroker, Edited Shipping Manifests, Corolla Speed Chip, Vewy Vewy Quiet, and Zetatech Mem Chip. Your turn, Runner - what would you have played in my place?

A few turns later, Daniel has rezzed ICE in front of R&D (Mazer), HQ (Wall of Static), and Subfort 1 (Quandary). He also has a rezzed Rockerboy (with 9 bits) as well as 6 bits in his pool. Though my early runs cost him 10 bits altogether, he is now in a very good position. It is high time that I install my Dwarf program you can barely make out in my hand (the flash, unfortunately, is being reflected by my card sleeves). Since I didn't really draw any bitgainer cards, I had to take bits one at a time.

Later in the game, I had to decide on a strategy: due to a lack of "real" bitgainer cards (all I drew was a Rigged Investments and a Databroker - you can see them already on the table), I tried my luck with Stealth cards (Invisibility, Vewy Vewy Quiet, Corolla Speed Chip). Daniel, meanwhile, has moved his Subfort to Rio and has installed something in it (the Rockerboy is in the Archives by now). Well, it's really time I had a Code Gate breaker, don't you think! In the end, I managed to snatch victory from Daniel by repeated R&D plundering (powered by "Stealth" bits), after much sweat and tears on either side. Do note the black dice with the skull and crossbones Daniel is wont to use as a tag marker in the lower right-hand corner.
