Shots from the 1999 German National Championship in Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Based in the hotel "Zum Rappen" ("At the black horse"), the players who had come to the 1999 German Nationals had ample room to play. This is Daniel Schneider (who won the tourney and became German National Champion) next to Ocke Rörden (both from Kiel), facing off against Matthias Nagy from Berlin. Next to the bottle of orange juice, there are two agendas already scored by Daniel; one of them is Corporate Coup. R&D is almost depleted and very heavily iced (5 ice, among them Keeper, Neural Blade, and Scramble), and so is an SDF that holds a South African Mining Corp and a Rio 'Grid, as well as two other unrezzed Upgrades. The seven ice in front of the SDF include Mazer, Cinderella, and Wall of Static. In the Archives, a Solo Squad is visible.

Same game, same situation, a few seconds later: On this photo, Matthias Nagy comes into view on the right. Here's what he has installed at the moment: Force Shield, Shaka, Blink (interesting!), Forward's Legacy, Tinweasel, Broker, The Short Circuit, two hidden resources, Corolla Speed Chip, WuTech Mem Chip, and a ZZ22 Speed Chip in the trash. As you can easily deduce from the card selection, this photograph was taken on the first day of the two-day tourney, when the Sealed deck tourney was held.

Here are Daniel and Ocke again, sitting outside in the summer sun of Rothenburg. Despite the salt and pepper boxes on the table, the café's patron refused to serve us anything, since it was his "lunch break". Note Ocke's fitting selection for a t-shirt.
