It has always been my opinion that Space is a greedy club who doesn't care 
about the scene at all.  All they care about is the money.  They have been 
shutting down parties all over Philly and the surrounding area..  For example,
 Bassik, Havona Circle, The Music Made Us Do It, etc.  They are also 
responsible for ruining Destination Earth, which was supposed to be an 
indoor/outdoor party that people could camp out at.  Now it was held at 2 
different nightclubs after Space reported them.  To find out more on why I

        This is a letter to help anyone who enjoys the past-time of "raving" 
better utilize their precious weekend time.  As  we all know the weekend is two
nights long.  There is Friday night and Saturday night.  Another universal truth
is that to be a "raver" you have to go to "raves".  A rave consists of an all 
night party intended to be enjoyed by the participants, with various DJ's 
playing various types of good music.  There has been an epidemic of irrational 
thought converging on the wonderful city of Philadelphia.  This epidemic is the 
idea that going to the club "Space" constitutes going to a "rave".  We at BFK 
Productions would like to help anyone who is confused about the situation.  
"Space" does not equal a "rave", "Space" is a club.  A club is an institution 
designed by its proprietors to make money.  Its is a perfectly sound idea in 
our free-market economy, but unfortunately on most occasions, ideal conditions 
are not met.  You could equate the difference between "Space" and a "rave" to 
the difference between a nudee bar and a good hooker.  The nudee bar offers 
similar entertainment, but the owners are not looking to give you, the consumer,
a good time, they are looking to profit from you.  Whereas the hooker does make
money off you, but the experience is much more pleasurable, and fulfilling, and
she probaly uses the money she makes to pay her pimp an buy more hooker stuff so
she can be an even better hooker next time.
	
     So if you opt to go out this weekend and "rave", make your choice wisely.  
As we decided in the begining of this letter, there are only two nights in the 
weekend, and that means none to waste.  Don't be duped and used (like at a 
gentleman's club), go out and have a great, satisfying night(much like one would
 have if employing a good old fashioned prostitute).  I know I would.

Hi!

Over the last few weeks there have been some major changes at Space in 
Philadelphia. There was actually a mass walk out on the night of Maximum 
on July 30th.  The reason for the exodus is that everyone that has worked 
at Space at anytime since it has opened is now fully aware of the  damage 
it has done to the scene here in Philadlephia. Here are some facts that we 
discovered during our last few weeks at the club.


The place is a health hazard with rat and mouse infestations.  The club 
has yet to pass a health inspection.

The owner of Space did indeed close down Bassik. All employees of Space 
vehemently defended the club for months stating that Space had nothing to do 
with Bassik getting shut down.  To our dismay we discovered that Space has been 
shutting down parties in Philadelphia for almost a year now. No-one but the 
owner was involved in shutting down any party. He made us all look very stupid.


The drug problem at Space is severe simply because it has no control over 
the situation.  An employee was fired because he confronted the owner about 
his 
invlovement with drugs at the club.  Another staff member was assaulted 
and had two teeth knocked out by the head of security for exactly the 
same reason. The cost of treatment to his mouth has so far exceeded 
$20,000.  The head of secuirity has not even been reprimanded for that 
violent attack.


Space is a disgrace and we vow never to go back until there are new owners 
and something is done about the building.  Nothing is up to code. This 
club has done nothing but hurt the scene with its lies and manipulation. 
If you decide to support this club feel free but we do encourage you all 
to stay well away until something is done.

THE FOLLOWING IS A RECENT E-MAIL FROM A CHIC IN PHILLY:::

Ok, now I haven't said much at all through out the past year when the owner 
of space has been accused of shutting down parties. I always figured that it 
was just easiest to pick on the newest guy in town and that they were just 
always the easiest target. I have a friend who's mother is on the May's 
Landing township council. And I was telling her how excited I was about 
Destination Earth and when I heard this, I almost cried! Apparently, and I 
quote her, "space lobbied to have DE shut down because it is afraid that the 
attention given to "raves" reflects poorly on the activities at space which 
is merely a controlled enviornment run by grown professionals." I mean, 
shit,I go to space occasionally.well, I won't be anymore. But I can't figure 
out why they would do that! And now, i feel stupid for not listening to 
everybody when they told me that space shut down bassik and havona circle. 
so i guess there's the truth. now what?

Why you (and everyone else) should boycott club Space in Philadelphia

OK people.  You like to party.  Remember when Space actually kicked ass? 
Way back when....you know you remember. When it first opened everyone was a 
party kid and everyone was friendly. Finally!!  A club that hosts incredible 
DJ's and has awesome people. Remember how it slowly got shitty--all the drugs, 
the violence, the booty crowd moving in.  The  "vibe" dissolved.  You couldn't 
walk 5 feet without being offered drugs, asked for drugs, or getting  bumped 
into by somebody ON drugs.  



OK--one more crappy club in Philadelphia.  No big deal, right??  We all kinda 
wrote it off. Around that same time remember all the parties getting shut down 
(and they still are)?? Everybody knows Space was/is responsible for it.  
Although this is common knowledge, I'm not pointing any fingers.  I have no 
solid proof.  But I think you all know the real deal. Ever notice how whenever 
theres a big party in Philly, Space throws a competing party either the same 
night or the night before to tire all you guys out?  Pretty sneaky, huh?? 

 Nice tactic they have going there to steal money from other crews.
And how bout that liquor liscence they have there.  Alcohol draws EXACTLY the 
kind of crowd we all want to see at a so called "rave" club.  Why did they get 
it?  For more money. 

And thats what I was told when I questioned a resident DJ there about it.  Straight from the horses mouth.

Is that what the "scene" is all about??  Who can make more money??  Don't get 
me wrong- I want money as much as the next person.  But capitalizing on OTHER 
peoples parties to make a  buck??  Getting other parties shut down to draw all 
those kids to YOUR club to make a buck??  


And people--the crowd there has just been getting progressively worse!!!  I 
havent been there in about a year but from what I hear its worse than I 
remember.  And believe me--what I remember is bad.  

My point is--don't support a club that pulls this shit.  Don't give them one 
red cent of yours.  They're starting to bring in big name DJ's to try to get 
YOUR money.  Don't fall for it. 

 
DON'T SUPPORT A CLUB THAT WOULD SHUT DOWN A PARTY YOU WERE THROWING 
WITHOUT THINKING TWICE!!!

Everyone preaches PLUR.  Without sounding cheesy--Space is the FURTHEST thing 
from PLUR. 

Peace??  Try violence.  yes--there are guns at Space.  

Love??  Maybe the owners love the money they get but thats about it.  They 
don't love you--they don't even LIKE you.
Unity??  Nope.  none of that either at Space.  
Respect??  Pulling the rug out from other people parties is NOT respect.  
Actually, it's the antithesis 
of respect.  How 'bout them onions??

 People say they're still going "just to dance" or "just to see so-and-so 
spin".  It's STILL supporting this club.  It's still giving them ten bucks or 
so of money that they DO NOT DESERVE. They're deceiving you. Do you like being 
tricked into doing something you don't want??

     Please--don't support a club that only thinks of themselves and would stab 
you in the back in a heartbeat.  And this is all only the tip of the iceburg.  
Space isn't run by a bunch of friendly DJ's that are all into techno.  Its run 
by evil people that only care about the Almighty Dollar and eradicating all 
traces of the "rave scene".

Please pass this on to any friends you have in the Philly scene.  Everyone 
deserves to know the truth.
