Bands (A-Z)
WWW | Iain Archer | Iain Archer has been around for a while now, and he has three albums out. He hails from Northern Ireland and has been an important part of festivals such as Summer madness and Greenbelt. I heard him in Summer Madness '94 and he was good, though I wouldn't have said he was brilliant. His Crazy Bird album is excellent and well worth a listen or two. |
WWW | Booley | There is plenty of excitement currently surrounding Booley. His most recent album "Bathroom Floor" has received critical acclaim and is also starting to see the popularity that it's quality deserves. Booley specialises in focusing on the mundane and often trivial things in life and treats them with the care and attention they deserve. |
WWW | Máire Brennan | Máire Brennan has produced two strong Chrisitan albums, "Perfect TIme" and more recently "Whisper to the WIld Water" and while her music may not be to everyone's taste, she is without a doubt the leading singer to come out of Ireland in some time. The music strikes me as a mix between Clannad and Enya, so if either of those are not to your taste then steer clear. |
WWW | Emmaus | Emmaus are a Dublin-based band who all come from the Emmaus community that is sprinkled around South Dublin. Their style is hard to pin down, but R 'n' B is one possibility. The content is at times worshipful, and they encourage a very positive outlook on our lifes as Christians. They've had quite a few albums already, but they've yet to make an impact on the secular scene in Ireland. If hard work pays off though they should get their due recognition in the next few years |
WWW | Halcyon Days | It seems that Halcyon Days have called it a day after producing three albums of energetic, thoughful music. The band members have all gone on to do separate projects in various fields and we wish them all the best.. |
Joseph | Headed up by Joe Fitzgerald, Joseph have developed from East-17 wannabees to a much more mellow outfit thanks to some tasteful guitar and percussion sounds. They've seen the Christian music scene in the Republic grow from almost nothing and have been an important part of the growth. I think that they have to come up with some new material if they really want to gain a long term following but the music style will always have a broad range of appeal if they can just make more of it. |
|
Oranges @ Half Time | Sadly, Oranges @ Half Time are no more. They officially split at In:fusion '99. Hopefully the band members will still continue to be involved in the Christian music scene. |

WWW | Reality? | The Dun Laoghaire based band have taken the stage a few times at TGI Friday. Their songs are well performed, but the vocals are a little bit timid, and the style is not distinct. The band consists of members of the Dún Laoghaire Evangelical church worship team and their togetherness is obvious on stage. |
Juliet Turner | Juliet is a great lie performer and knows how to handle a crowd. Her distinct voice and creative song writing are trade-marks. Her songs are emotional and very personal. From a Christian perspective, it's very hard to know how to label her songs, because while she seems to have started very much in the Christian music scene, her songs could be written by anyone. Anyway, regardless of labels, shes an excellent singer with a big future. |
