Be my girl

“Are you alright?” Kevin looked over from the driver’s seat. Cassidy had not spoken a word in the five minutes they had been driving, a long time for Cassidy to keep her mouth shut.
“Yeah I’m fine, sorry…I’m not being much fun..” Cassidy managed a weak smile, although she was still fuming at what had erupted before with Mandy, and was disappointed in Nick’s weakness.

“Well what were you expecting him to do?” Cassidy asked herself.
“Mandy is his girlfriend, and he’s known you two days, he's not gonna defend you..” Cassidy tried to rationalise the situation.

“I'm so sick of girls hitting on you...don't they know you're with me!” Mandy bawled in the passenger seat of Nick’s Jeep.
“Mandy it’s ok…. it’s over now.” Nick said with as much sympathy as he could muster, which was not much, as his patience with Mandy had grown pretty thin of late.
“She can’t take my Nicky away from me…” Mandy sniffled.
Nick shuddered, he hated when she called him Nicky. It made him sound five years old, and with that nasal whine….

“It’s just not pretty..” Nick laughed to himself.

Suddenly feeling empowered, Nick caught sight of Mandy’s driveway, accelerated and swerved into it.
“Nick are you crazy?! Don’t you know the words ‘brakes'! GOD!” Mandy screeched.
“See ya Mandy…” Nick waved.

“What, aren’t you going to get the door for me Nicky?” She batted.
“Nope….now I’ve got things to do so if you don’t mind….” Nick motioned for her to exit.

Mandy’s mouth dropped open.

“Who the fuck do you think you're talking to!!” She exploded.

“I’m a human being Mandy and I need to be with someone who treats me like one!” Nick yelled back.
“I treat you damn well Nick!” Mandy defended.
"Right...listen, we've just changed and we're two different people now..."
“No I haven't…..” Mandy started, but Nick interrupted.

“God Mandy, I loved you so fucking much. I would give everything, and I did and you just chewed it up and spat it right back in my face! You have no respect for me or my career, or anyone else for that matter. You’re gonna wake up one day Mandy, and you’re gonna be alone ‘cause you pushed the people that loved you that one step too far!” Nick stopped and looked at Mandy, who seemed genuinely shaken for once in her life.

“Loved….Used to?” Mandy repeated softly.

“Yeah as in past tense. Goodbye Mandy.” Nick stared icily through the windscreen, gripping the steering wheel so tight that his knuckles were white. Mandy got out of the car silently and hurried inside.

Nick let out a breath that he had been holding and slowly backed out the driveway. He began the 30 minute journey home, tears streaming down his face as he tried to analyse what he had just done.

“Ok where do you wanna go? Kevin asked cheerfully.
“Ummm..anywhere! I don’t mind. But not too formal because I’m not good at the whole ‘keep quiet dinner etiquette’ thing...” Cassidy laughed
“I know the perfect place.” Kevin smiled.

“So what are we doing tonight Milady?” Brian smiled charmingly at Becca as they stood outside his house where AJ had dropped them moments before.
“You don’t have plans?” Becca asked.
“Ummm…..no..” Brian said not really understanding the full meaning of the question. Becca had been awfully quiet on the ride home and he wasn’t quite sure what was wrong.
“I have an idea…” Brian smirked.
“Ok…” Becca said hesitantly and walked with Brian to his Jeep.

Nick walked through his front door, went upstairs and immediately fell on his bed. He starred at the ceiling trying to decipher his thoughts. Nick thought of Mandy, and gradually his mind skipped to thoughts of the fun he’d had with Cassidy that day.

“Man a girl hasn’t made me laugh that hard since…..” Nick couldn’t recall a recent memory. He smiled. Nick felt like a great weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He was free, Nick smiled and rolled over to sleep.

“Oh how cool!” Cassidy exclaimed as Kev pulled up outside “Planet Hollywood”.
(CN: I would have more chance of guessing how long a Pakistani lama pees for then knowing if there is a Planet Hollywood In Orlando…so please just go along with it because I’ve ALWAYS wanted to go to a Planet Hollywood!) (BN: Hey Cassidy “WE WENT TO A PLANET HOLLYWOOD IN K.L!!!” sings and mocks Cassidy!)

“Thought you’d like it!” Kev smiled and raced to grab the car door for her. Cassidy blushed and stepped out of the car politely taking Kevin’s hand that was extended to her.
“Ooo Nasty queue…” Cassidy gasped as she now saw the lineup to be seated.
"No problem…” Kevin smiled and gave the doorman a nod and they walked straight in.
“Pretty smooth Kev,” Cassidy laughed.
“It’s ok…I knew the guy..” Kevin blushed.

“Ohh Brian it’s beautiful...” Becca gasped as Brian took his hands away from her eyes.
“Surprise.” He smiled, Brian had taken Becca to his favourite spot to think and be alone. It was on top of a hill that had a breath taking view of the city.

Becca stood in awe at the millions of twinkling lights as the breeze blew softly through her hair.
“Champagne?” Brian smiled as he sat on the bonnet watching her.
“Yes please….” She nodded still admiring the view.

Meanwhile Kevin and Cassidy were having the time of their lives telling each other hilarious stories of their past.
“Get out!! Your mum busted you in a BARN!?” Cassidy burst out laughing.
Kevin raised his hands up in defence.
“True story, true story,” He laughed.

“There weren’t like any…. animals in there, was there?” Cassidy said with the funniest look on her face.
“NO!!” Kevin burst out laughing.
“Just a whole lotta hay!!” They both had tears in their eyes they were laughing so hard. Kevin paid the check and they left, still laughing.

Becca and Brian laid on the bonnet of the car and looked up the stars.
“This is perfect…..” Brian sighed and leaned into kiss Becca, who to his shock, pulled away.

“What's wrong?” Brian sat up puzzled. Becca sat up also and turned to him.
“Brian, am I just a….fling….to you?” Becca asked, her eyes searching Brian’s face for a response.

Brian’s jaw dropped open.

“Of course not! Becca why would you think….” Brian stammered, shocked.
“Oh I wasn't sure...cause you haven't really said...anything..” Becca interrupted, and looked down not wanting to look Brian in the eyes.
“Oh….” Brian slapped himself he’d completely forgot. He was screaming at himself inside.
“Hmmm good one Bri! The “actually ask the girl out” phase was quite an important one to skip, don’t ya think!” Brian mentally kicked himself.

He lifted her chin up.
“I’m so sorry Bec..” Brian said sincerely.
“So you actually wanted to?” Becca asked quietly, almost afraid of the answer, she was seriously falling for Brian and rejection would almost certainly lead to a broken heart.

“How could you even ask that?! Do you think I just go around like people’s emotions are just toys?” Brian asked incredulously.
“No, I’m sorry Bri…I just needed to..” Becca tried to explain.
“Shhhh…” Brian silenced her with a gentle kiss. He pulled away and smiled.

“Ok gotta do this properly…” He got off the bonnet, pulling Becca with him. He looked down at his hands and pulled off the plain silver band that he wore on his pinkie. He gently placed it on Rebecca’s left third finger and looked up at her.

“Rebecca, will you be my girl?” He grinned in his gorgeous southern accent.

Becca just nodded as she pulled Brian in for one of the most passionate kisses he had ever experienced.

“Kevin I had a really great time tonight…” Cassidy began as they reached the door to her apartment.
“Me too….God I haven’t laughed like that in years,” Kevin smiled. She was so beautiful and he wanted nothing more than to take her into that apartment, but he had a feeling that she really didn’t feel the same.

“Ummm…” Cassidy was at an uncomfortable loss for words as they stood outside her door. Kevin leaned in slightly and Cassidy pulled back immediately.
“Kevin I’m sorry, I’m just…..”
“Hey Cassidy that’s fine, I had an idea..” Kevin bit his lip embarrassed.
“I’m so sorry Kev, we’re still friends right?” Cassidy looked up hopefully.

“Of course, but you can’t blame a guy for trying right?” Kevin laughed softly.
“Umm, well..its pretty early…did you want something to drink before you go or…” Cassidy suggested, trying to ease the tension slightly.
“Well, the football’s on...you game, partner?” Kevin smirked.
“Race you to the couch…loser has to make the popcorn…” Cassidy laughed and raced inside ahead of him.
