She went out further into the woods, to collect some berries for her master, the Medicine Man of the village. The one she called father. It was all she knew. He had discovered her on the outskirts of the village when she was just a baby. From the day she was able to comprehend him, the Medicine Man told her she was special, and that a special destiny was to be hers. That is why she had no name. The Medicine Man refused anyone in the village to name her because of that foretold destiny.
She reached the small berry bush, right next to the mighty river. She watched the seagulls fly down to it to get their meal. Suddenly, they all flew away. This bothered her. She looked up to the sun, but was mesmerized by the strange clouds that were in the sky. She decided to go to the waterfront to get a closer look.......
"Ahh! We are here!" Sir George Dolenz proclaimed as the ship reached the sandy shore.
"Everyone, come see!" George called out.
He was quickly befriended by his 3 friends, Lord David Jones of Manchester, Colonel Robert Nesmith, but he was known as Mike to his friends, and Captain Peter Tork from the British guard.
"Look at all of this land!" George happily proclaimed.
"It's wonderful!" David chimed.
"Simply marvelous!" Michael agreed.
"Peter?"
"Oh, it's nice Mike," Peter said.
But he was not enjoying any of it. To Peter, it was a prison camp. This New World meant nothing to him. For as long as he could remember, Peter had always been forced to do things. All he wanted was to be an individual.
All the men poured out of the ship onto the new British colony Jamestown. In a few minutes, the men were ready to set camp.
"Pete?" Michael said. "You ok?"
"I'm fine," Peter replied, sighing under his breath.
"Listen, I have to get out of here. I'll go.........Explore the territory."
"Splendid!" David said.
"Take all the time you want."
"Don't worry," Peter said, grimly, "I will."
She was completely fascinated by these strange men. Hundreds of questions ran through her mind. Who were they? What did they want here? Why are they so pale? Her puzzling was interrupted as one of them came toward her. She became scared, and ran back to her berry bush. He came closer, and closer. She wanted to run, but something inside of her told her to stay and get a better look at this man. Finally he got close enough. At one look of his face, she was spellbound. It was the man from her dream! But how could it be? Her body stood frozen, as if under a trance by the face of this man. He walked by, and she was unnoticed in her hiding place. Her mind told her to follow him, follow him; never let him out of your sight. She obeyed willingly and followed him deeper into the forest......
Peter was now far away from the waterfront. He was feeling a lot happier now that he was away from that ship. He looked up at the rocky cliff that surrounded him. 'There must be a great view up there!' He thought, and almost instantly began climbing up the cliff. She had already beaten him. She had gone around, where the ground was more level. Her mind was filled with anticipation. Soon he would reach the top and see her! Daydreams filled her mind. 'My master was right!' She thought. 'He is the one!' 'He--'
"AAAAAAAHHHHH!"
Her daydream was interrupted by a scream.
"HELP ME!!!! SOMEONE PLEASE!!!"
Captain Peter had slipped on a rock and was now hanging several feet above the air by a single, brittle tree branch.
She knew what to do. Quickly she slipped down the side of the cliff, reaching the one level place close to the man. Peter was surprised by the strange woman who came to his aide. His joy was interrupted by the cracking sound of the branch. She gasped. 'I must hurry!' She thought.
"PLEASE, HELP ME! THE BRANCH IS BREAKING!" Peter yelled out.
She jumped off the level spot down close to the branch. Dozens of tiny rocks flew down to the ground as she plummeted. Peter was yelling. She reached out her hand to the man. Peter, knowing that he must act quickly, firmly grasped the woman's hand as the branch broke off from its tree, falling to the earth. She motioned her hand to go up.
They were now at the top of the cliff. The whole forest was in their view.
"Oh, thank you ever so much!" Peter exclaimed.
"How can I ever repay you?
The woman looked at him in confusion. Peter then realized that she didn't understand his language. But something told him to try to talk to her.
"What is your name?"
She felt a strange sensation come over her body. Her heart began pounding. She closed her eyes. A burst of color was seen in them. She opened her eyes, feeling so different.
"I have no name."
She understood and could speak his language.
"Oh." Peter said in total shock.
"My name is Peter."
"Hello Peter." She said.
"Forgive me but why do you have no name."
"That does not matter now."
"Well, I have to call you something.."
"I know!"
"What?"
"I will call you Miracle."
"Miracle?"
"Yes, because you are my Miracle. You saved me, in so many ways."
"Miracle. Thank you Peter. I like this name."
Instantly they both knew that Miracle's destiny was being fulfilled. Peter stared into Miracle's deep hazel eyes. Miracle reached her hand up and ran her fingers through his hair. The wind began to blow. Peter watched Miracle's beautiful hair flowing in the wind. The sunlight shone upon them. Their heart began to move to one beat. Closer and closer they moved to each other.
"I feel so strange." Peter said.
"So do I!" Miracle replied, "Just let your heart guide you."
An explosion of emotions streamed out of their bodies.
"I love you," Peter exclaimed, "with all my heart."
"I love you as well, my Peter." Miracle replied.
The wind picked up. Leaves of green blew through the sky. The sun cast golden loving rays to its children....
Peter never went back to the settlement. Miracle led him to her village. He was welcomed by her Master and the rest of the Powatans. Miracle was now fulfilled. Peter was now free. Together, their loved burned an everlasting flame into their souls.
Mike and the others did form a search party. All they found were his clothes.
"Poor Peter." George proclaimed.
"Let's just hope he suffered no pain." Mike wistfully replied.
And Peter didn't. He was saved, by-a "Miracle."
