Bet You Didn't Know
This !!
One: Even though he's partied at many a glamorous
location around the world, boogied at the Brits
and got down with the Spice Girls, Spike's favourite
place to party is still Mr. Smith's back home in
Warrington. If you want to see him 'bodyshaking' in
real life, that's the place to go!
Two: He's now one of pop's top movers and shakers but if
things had been different it could have been Spike the
Solicitors! His brothers Mike and Ben are solicitors
back 'oop North' but thankfully Spike didn't follow in
their footsteps! "If 911 finishes I think I'll go back
and be their tea boy!" he laughs.
Three: He gets his 'bodyshaking' talents from his mum, who
was a British dance champion in her day - cheers
Mrs. Dawbarn!
Four: He was given his nickname by a guy called Clive,
who Spike used to dance with on the telly show
'The Hitman And Her'. But his best mates and
family still call him Simon. "I don't mind the name
Spike now, but before I used to think it made me sound
like a dog!" he laughed.
Five: If you spot Spike with a few bags under his eyes
and yawning a bit you can probably blame Sony
Playstation! Like most pop folk he's obsessed
with the powers of the Playstation and even take it on
tour with him - get some sleep, boy!
Six: Spike's not the only pop star to hail from Warrington.
His cousin went out with 'J' from 5ive for years, and
'J' claims he taught Spike to rap - a likely story!
Spike also went to college in Warrington with Lee
from line-dancing pop kids Steps, and says he once
stole Lee's clothes from a changing room and ran down
the street with them. Not surprisingly Spike got into
big trouble from the college tutors for his antics!
Seven: The thing that got Spike most hot under the collar?
When a silly newspaper claimed that his pop career
was in ruins after injuring his ankle practising his
dance moves. "They said I was never gonna walk
again when I was absolutely fine - you've just got to
laugh at these sort of things," he says.
Eight: Take Spike to the poshest restaurant in the world
and he'll still order the same thing...beans and chips!
"I do it every time and usually they do it for me...
beans and chips with everything, can't go wrong!
Nine: You probably know that Spike is obsessed with
Manchester United, but did you know that the
first ever football game he went to was Manchester
United versus Liverpool? Man Utd won 3-1
and Spike says the thing he remembers most is
flicking elastic bands at Liverpool player John Barnes'
legs. Hooligan!
