"One of the leading second-generation San Franciscan bands, this group's music was dominated by the excellent violin playing of classically-tutored La Flamme, who also produced their records. Their debut album made an enormous impact and contained the stand out song White Bird." From Delerium's Psychedelic Archive

It's a Beautiful Day was formed in 1967, by former Utah Symphony member David LaFlamme with help of promoter Matthew Katz and his brand new label "San Francisco Sound". LaFlamme played violin, sang and produced. He wrote much of the material together with his wife, Linda. They became one of the leading second - generation San Franciscan bands after their first record titled 'It's a Beautiful Day!'. This was one of the classic albums of the era and the twin vocals of La Flamme and Pattie Santos blended together beautifully on tracks like White Bird, Hot Summer Day and Girl With No Eyes.
Linda La Flamme then left the band after being hit by a thrown bottle during a concert, and back in the studio again they recorded their second album Marrying Maiden. The new album had far more variety, with some country influence, some cajun, jazz, folk, and good-timey rock n roll, with guest appearances by Jerry Garcia and other Bay Area musicians. Where their first album seemed to be an excersize in perfection, the new one was a step out in many new directions.
Then the problems began to take over.
