Thought you folks would like an update on what Grace is doing. I interviewed her this morning for the liner notes I'm writing and took the opportunity to ask her what she's up to. She now lives in LA, and loves it, and has no plans at all to make music. Her feeling is "I've done that." However, she did say she "rules nothing out" and that she sort of finds the idea of the Airplane getting together when they're in their 70s very amusing. I told her we all hope it won't take that long and mentioned that Paul told me he hoped to see the Airplane doing something together before the end of the decade. She said this was news to her but didn't say she wasn't interested. She said that Paul is a great organizer and if anyone could pull it together he could. Just for the hell of it, I'm going to ask Jorma for a comment, because I think he'd be the last holdout.

She also told me something very interesting that I never knew, which helps explain why the 1989 reunion didn't include Spencer. She said that legally the name Jefferson Airplane belongs to five people: her, Paul, Marty, Jorma and Jack, and their original contracts state that those five people have to be involved for the name to be used legally. They can use any drummer they want and still call it JA as long as the five of them are involved. (Lauren T: Maybe Joey can shed some light on this.)

Finally, Grace is spending her time now writing her second autobiography (she said that she didn't really see any reason to write one but they offered her so much money, a million bucks, she couldn't say no) and drawing, which was her first love.

You were the person since December 12, 1997 that have been curious about Grace's whereabouts.
