Released in 1993, this is the final chapter in the book of Anacrusis; a band that should have... Screams And Whispers is a complex album that takes numerous listens for all the subtle nuances to sink in, but once they do there's no turning back. Starting with "Sound The Alarm", this band's prowess for writing challenging pieces comes shining through, along with other great tracks: "Release", "A Screaming Breath", and "Brotherhood". The album however is not without faults. The album loses direction a few times with the ambitious but misguided "Too Many Prophets" and "Driven". For those with the patience, this is a rewarding album from a great band that got screwed for not being mainstream. Sad.
