A massive greatest hits collection that sold almost 15 million copies worldwide, this album covers the first decade of madonna's career. It features almost all her hits (although Who's That Girl, Causing A Commotion and Dress You Up are left off, among others) and two great new tracks. Its fitting that the biggest singles artist of the eighties would putout her greatest hits at the start of the new decade and that it would become the highest selling pop greatest hits record ever.

Crazy For You
- Madonna' first hit ballad, Crazy For You was a #1 samsh in 1984. Performed in Madonna's first studio movie, Vision Quest, this beautiful ballad showed that Madonna could wipe the floor with a love song without resorting to dance grooves. A fan favorite, this gem has a quickie video of images taken directly from the film.

Justify My Love - Burning Up was hot, but Justify My Love positively sizzles with up-front-in-your-face-lust! Madonna experiments (successfully) with the potency of a spoken word vocal and rips any flirtatous facades to shreds. She just wants to be your lover. An unforgettable statement that sounds like nothing else ever released. The wildly controversial video, directed by Jean Baptiste Mondino (Human Nature) was banned from MTV for its strong sexuality. That they show beatings and sex all day long didn't seem to affect their judgement that Justify My Love was just too sexy to be aired. Ever the marketing genius, Madonna released it as a video single that sold almost a million copies at $9.98 apiece. The video itself is one of her best. Its depiction of a hotel flor devoted to alternative sex is full of androgenous co-stars, a lesbian kiss, and a charming mismatch of partners that manages to not portray any of them as freaks (which they aren't, but many a star and director would have gone that way), but as people who, like the burnt-out Madonna at the beginning of the video, need to unwind and have a little kinky fun.

Rescue Me - The second single from THE IMMACULATE COLLECTION reached #9 (#3 in the UK) on the strength of its beat, but its real virtues lie in its strong lyrics and daring vocals, which keep it on her long list of highlights. She wants to conquer the world even though she is repulsed by all that she sees. Can love come and save her from this state? I believe so, and so does Madonna.
