On Monday morning Haley was standing at her locker when she felt a hand on her shoulder. “Jeez Brian! You scared the heck out of me!”, she said clutching her chest. “I’m sorry. Just wanted to say good morning!”, he said leaning in for a kiss. She kissed him sweetly. When they parted, they noticed people were staring. Particularly girls. “I didn’t know this was a peep show.”, Brian joked in Haley’s ear. “I didn’t either.”, she whispered back. Soon enough, the bell rang and everyone went on their way to class. “I’ll see ya in chemistry.”, Brian said and kissed her on the cheek. He walked to his class and Haley walked to hers.

Kameron looked at her with wide yes and a smile as soon as she walked in the door. “What is going on? I saw you kiss him!”, Kameron said excited for her friend. “We kind of are going out.”, Haley exclaimed. “Oh my gosh! You are so lucky!” “Yeah, Brian is a great guy.”, Haley gushed. She decided not to tell Kameron about the fight and everything because she was afraid it would hurt her feelings if she found out that Brian used her as a cover up for his feelings. “So what are you doing after school today?”, Kameron asked doodling on her notebook. “Nothing so far. Why?” ‘Well, do you wanna come to my house or something?” “Sure!”, Haley said opening her book. “Okay cool.”, Kameron said right before the bell rang.

After class Haley went to her locker to get her chemistry book. When she opened her locker a note feel out. It was from Brian. “I’ll read it when I get to class.”, Haley thought and walked to chemistry. She walked in, sat down and opened the note. She read it to herself.

Haley,

I am really glad that all of the confusion is behind us. It is also very cool to wake up in the morning and know I’ll be able to kiss you. Which brings me to my next point. I hope that you don’t have plans for tonight because I would like to ask you out on a real date. Wear something nice but casual okay? It doesn’t matter what you wear though, you’ll still be beautiful.

Haley folded up the note and put it in her back pocket. A smile was plastered on her face. “What’s the smile for?”, Brian asked sitting down beside her. “You know what the smile is for Einstein!”, she said playfully hitting him in the stomach. “Oh, so you got my note huh?”, he asked smiling. “Duh!” They laughed. “So is that a yes to my date proposal?” “Ofcourse it is.”, she said kissing him quickly. After class Haley found Kameron and told her about the date. Kameron was excited. “Okay, change of plans. I’ll come to your house after school and help you get ready okay?”, Kameron said hugging Haley. “Okay. Bye!”, Haley said and rushed off to her next class.

*AFTER SCHOOL IN HALEY’S ROOM*

“So, do you have any idea where you are going or what you are doing?”, Kameron asked flipping through a magazine. “No, he just said to dress nice but casual.”, Haley called from the bathroom. She was painting her toe nails on the counter. “Okay. Can I go look through your closet?”, Kameron asked. “Sure, knock yourself out!” Just as Haley has said that the phone rang. Haley ran to her bed and picked it up. “Hello?”, she said quickly. “Hey! I am just calling because I realized that I didn’t tell you what time I am picking you up. I figured since you a girl and all you need at least 3 hours in advance to get ready.”, Brian said laughing. “Very funny Bri! So, what time are you picking me up anyway?” “Let’s say 6:30.”, he said sweetly. “Okay now I need to go start getting ready.”, Haley said with a smile on her face. “I’m surprised you don’t have Kameron over there helping you.”, Brian said. “Well you know me very well because she is picking out an outfit for me right now in my closet!”, she said laughing. “Why am I not surprised?”, he exclaimed. “Bye Brian.” “Bye Haley.” She hung up the phone and walked to the closet.

“Found anything yet Kam?”, Haley asked from the doorway. “You have so many clothes!”, she exclaimed still searching. “What can I say? I love clothes!” Both girls laughed. “Oh Haley! I think this is it!”, she squealed pulling out a dress. “You are right! I love that dress!” “Go try it on girl!”, Kameron ordered giving it to Haley and pushing her in the bathroom. She slipped the dress on and came out. “Oh girl! That is going to make Brian faint when he sees you!”, Kameron said running to Haley and hugging her. The dress was black with then straps at the top that tied behind her neck. It was cut so it showed cleavage but not too much. It went to about the middle of Haley’s thigh. “You want me to do your hair and makeup?”, she asked. “Yeah, that would be great. I’m too nervous to do my own!”, Haley said closing her eyes and exhaling. “Okay, sit down and we’ll get started.”, Kameron said softly trying to calm her down. An hour later she was finished. Kameron had put soft elegant makeup on her. She used brown eyeshadow, mascara, peach blush, a soft eyeliner, and a glossy peach lipstick. She had curled her hair so it had a little bounce, and it flowed over her shoulders. “Thank you! You did great!”, Haley said looking at herself in the mirror. “Your welcome. Brian isn’t going to know what hit him!” “What shoes should I wear with this dress?”, Haley asked sitting down in a chair. “Got ya covered!”, Kameron said holding up a pair of black strappy high heel sandals. “What would I have done without your help?”, Haley asked putting them on. “I don’t know. Listen, I have to go. I promised my mom I’d help her make dinner.”, she said hugging Haley. “Okay, thanks for everything.” The girls hugged one last time. Kameron said bye and left.

“Okay Haley. It’s 6:20. Calm down. You are going to have a great time.”, Haley reassured herself. The doorbell rang. “Showtime!” Joni answered the door. “Hello Brian.”, Joni said shaking his hand. “Hello Mrs. Ashcroft.”, Brian said returning her handshake. “Oh please call me Joni.”, she said. “Haley walked down the steps. “Wow!”, Brian said his eyes popping out of his head. “I guess you approve.”, Haley said joking around. “That’s an understatement.”, he said winking in her direction. “You look wonderful honey.”, Joni said. “Have a good time.” “Thanks Mom.”, Haley said hugging her goodbye. Haley and Brian walked to his car. “You look pretty good Littrell.”, Haley said as he opened the door for her. “Oh stop it!”, he said jokingly rolling his eyes. Haley laughed. Brian had on khaki pants and a blue long sleeved button up shirt. “It is going to be a great night.”, Haley thought to herself.
