“How about this one?”, Kameron asked holding up adress. “No, it’s too bulky.”, Haley said sighing. The girls were prom dress shopping. Kameron had been asked by Justin Adams, so the girls decided to go shopping together. “We better find some dresses soon. Prom is only a week away.”, Haley said scanning the racks. “I found one!”, both girls exclaimed in unison. They giggled and hurried into the dressing rooms. A few minutes later they emerged wearing the dresses. “Oh Kam, you look beautiful!”, Haley said getting a good look at her dress. “So do you Haley!” Kameron had chosen an off the shoulder red dress that went to her mid thigh. Haley was wearing a while sleeveless dress that went to her ankles. It had a slit up to her thigh that accented her long legs. The straps criss-crossed on her back. “I think we have found our dresses!” The girls took them off and ran to the register to pay for them.

*2 DAYS LATER IN BRIAN’S BEDROOM*

“Will you atleast tell me what color your dress is?”,Brian asked whining. “No way!”, Haley exclaimed. “You are not going to know anything about my dress until you see me in it on Saturday.” “Well I kind of need to know what color it is so I know what color corsage to buy.”, he explained. “Any color is fine.” “How do you know it will match?” “Because I trust you.”, she said kissing him on the nose. “Okay, but don’tblame me if it doesn’t match!”, he teased.

*SATURDAY MORNING*

“Beep! Beep! Beep!”, Haley quickly sat up in bed. “Oh! I hate alarm clocks!”, she said swatting it. She had set her alarm for 9:00 because she had an appointment to get her nails french tipped at the salon at 10. “The things I do to look beautiful for that boy!”, she cracked as she slipped on her clothes. She just threw her hair up and went downstairs. She didn’t see the point of fixing it. “Morning Mom.”, Haley said pouring herself a glass of juice. “Morning honey. Brian called about an hour ago.”, Joni said smiling and reading the paper. “He did? I didn’t even hear the phone ring.”, Haley said sipping her drink. “Yes he did. he said to tell you that he is looking forward to dancing with you and he will pick you up at 7.” “Awe..He is a sweetheart.”, Haley said smiling softly. “Anyway, I better get going. I have to spruce up the nails!”, she said holding up her hands. “See you later honey.” “Bye Mom.”

*6:30 THAT NIGHT*

Haley as putting on the finishing touches to hermakeup. She tried her best to make it look the way Kameron did it that night. It looked great. Her hair was in a french twist with a few curls hanging around her face. She put on a silver necklace with a diamond heart charm as the finishing touch. She put on some of her favorite perfume. “Well, this is as good as I am going to get it.”, Haley looked at herself in the mirror. She felt Brian’s promise ring on her finger. “I hope you like it Brian.” “Honey! Brian’s here!”, Joni called from downstairs. Haley rushed to her window. She saw Brian in his tux looking at himself one last time in the mirror of his car. Haley laughed. “He is just as nervous as I am!” When she went downstairs Brian was waiting for her. “You look gorgeous!”, he said kissing her on the cheek. “You clean up pretty nice Littrell.”, she teased. “Why thank you!” He took her corsage out of the box and placed it on her wrist. “See, I told you it would match!”, she scolded. “That’s because it’s white. I was smart and picked a color that went with everything.”, he smiled stupidly. “Okay kids. stand in front of the fireplace. I want pictures.”, Joni said holding up her camera. They stood side my side. Brian put his arm around her waist. They both smiled for the camera. “That was great!”, Joni said hugging them both. “Have a good time!”, she called as theywalked down the stone path to Brian’s car.

When they walked into the country club where the prom was being held it was magical. “It’s like we’re in an entirely different world.”, Haley said looking around in amazement. “yeah, and there is no one I would rather be here with.”, he whispered in her ear. The song “Angel of Mine” began to play. “Care to dance?”, Brian asked holding out his hand. “Ofcourse.”, she said taking his offered hand. They walked out on the dance floor. Brian put his arms around Haley’s waist. Haley put her arms around his neck and laid her head on his shoulder. They slowly swayed to the music. About halfway through the song Brian whispered in Haley’s ear. “I love you Haley.” She picked her head up and looked at him. “I love you too.” They kissed slowly on the dance floor with all of the other couples still dancing around them. The song ended and they went to a table and sat down. Kameron and her date sat down with them soon after. “So you enjoying the prom so far?”, Kameron asked propping her head up with her hand. “I’m enjoying it very music.”, Haley said smiling and sideglancing at Brian. Haley gave Kameron a “I need to talk to you later” kind of look. Brian caught the look. “Hey Justin, what do you say we go get the girls some punch.”, he asked. “Okay, sure.” Both guys got up and walked to the refreshment table. Haley scooted next to Kameron. “Okay Kam. I have big news!”, Haley screeched. “What?” What?!?”, Kameron perked up. “Brian and I told each other I love you on the dance floor!” “Really? Oh Haley. I’m so happy for you!” The girls hugged. Brian and Justin returned to the table with punch for all of them. “Thank you.”, the girls said sipping their drinks.

The music stopped and the school principal startedtalking on the microphone. “Well, I hope everyone of you are enjoying the TatesCreek High School Senior Prom!” Everyone started cheering. “Good! Now as you all know, every prom needs a king and queen and I have the pleasure of introducing them this year. Haley leaned and whispered to Kameron. “I hope you win.” “No, I hope you win.” “This year Prom king is....Mr. Brian Littrell!” Haley hugged and kissed Brian and he walked up to the podium. He was crowned. He looked back at Haley and smiled. “Instead of me doing the honors of announcing this year’s queen. I am going to haveyou king do it.” Everyone applauded. He mouthed “I love you” to Haley and took the microphone. “Okay...thisyear’s queen is....Miss Haley Ashcroft.”, he said smiling. Haley covered her mouth in surprise. She hugged Justin and Kam and joined Brian on the podium. “Congratulations.”, he whispered as he crowned her. “Congratulations.” “Okay, will the king and his queen please step out on the dance floor for the traditional dance?” They stepped onto the dance floor. “Right Here Waiting” by Monica and 112 began to play. Haley loved that song. She had the CD at home. Everything was perfect.
