And
so we grace another table
And raise our glasses one more time
There's a face at the window
And I ain't never, never sayin' goodbye...

...the 2ND Annual Official North American Convention!!!
Yes, thanks to organizers and attendees from least 38 US States, Canada and the UK; last year's first-time event was such a success (a sell-out, actually!) that they are doing it again! Click on the Breakthru banner above for details, booking info and late breaking news. You can also find highlights on the Official Queen Fan Club Website, such as this:"BREAKTHRU 2002... great news... we will have a special guest!... JAMIE MOSES!! Yep, he's coming over to mix and mingle and treat us to his "Guitar Masterclass" which was such a huge success at Prestatyn last year! Now you REALLY want to come don't you?!..."
---March 12, 2002; OIQFC Website News/Archives
For those here who missed The Brian May Band's 1993/1998 US concerts or The SAS Band (Spike Edney's All-Star Band) at the Troubadour in 2000, Jamie Moses is that OTHER friendly guitarist who so happens to be a member of both!
QUEEN STAR ON HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME
For those asking us about this since last year and now needing advance warning while juggling other plans for summer: still tentative, but looks like the Star Installation Ceremony might also be happening in August... with a possible fan gathering/fund-raiser for the Star to coincide (rest assured, neither to be planned for the same weekend as the Official US Convention, as those involved in organizing both can't be in two places at once, either!)WE WILL ROCK YOU - THE MUSICAL!
by Queen and Ben Elton premieres May 14, 2002 in Great Britain. For details visit the Queen Online Official Site for the Queen Musical. VERY cool to hear from our LA friends flying over for this... we'll be anxiously awaiting your rave reviews! (and if Brian May's expressed enthusiasm over the rehearsals is any indication, rave reviews they will indeed be!)ANNUAL OFFICIAL INTERNATIONAL QUEEN FAN CLUB CONVENTION
takes place in Great Britain just days before the Queen Musical premiere & same weekend as the SHA reunion in LA this year - so plenty of good Queen vibes to encompass the globe in the month of, what else: MAY!QUEEN TO PERFORM AT QUEEN'S JUBILEE
Queen (Brian, Roger, vocalist TBA...) was scheduled to perform at the Queen's Golden Jubilee Show, opening the concert on Monday, June 3rd. Please check the Official Queen Website for any recent updates on this, as a Queen performance is VERY rare indeed, and, of course, the most exciting bit of news we'd heard all year from this end (which is in the US from afar, so yes, please do look to official UK sources for the current info.)
NEW OFFICIAL BRIAN MAY SIGNATURE GUITAR
introduced by Burns USA (more on this below!)THE NEW 'A NIGHT AT THE OPERA'
in 5.1 DVD AUDIO SURROUND SOUND was rescheduled for April 2002 release. (Thanks to the very kind folks from Swissonic , we previewed the Bohemian Rhapsody video off the disc in January... WOW!!! you MUST hear it to believe it!)
BRIAN MAY & THE FOO FIGHTERS
While in town hard at work on the aforementioned new "A Night At The Opera' DVD last January (and rockin' out at the concerts of fellow 2001 Rock N Roll Hall of Fame classmates like he has a life or something, too! ;-), one amazingly BUSY gentleman by the name of Brian May ALSO found time to go into studio and record on some Foo Fighters tracks. So when do we get to hear this, you scream? Okay, okay, here's the scoop:"Rock duo Queens Of The Stone Age has begun confirming dates for a spring/summer North American tour, which, as previously reported, will feature Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl on drums. Former Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan will also join Queens principals Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri for the trek, which begins May 27 in Atlanta and is currently booked through June 16 in San Francisco."
---Billboard.com Daily Music Update for April 24, 2002
"Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has put the band's fourth studio album on hold in favor of a return to the drum kit on tour with Queens Of The Stone Age. "Everything that we recorded came out great, and we actually mixed a bunch of it, but after four months, three studios, and who knows how many foosball games, we decided to take a break from it," Grohl said in a post on the bulletin board of the band's official Web site. The RCA set is now tentatively due in September."
---Billboard.com Daily Music Update for April 19, 2002
So there you have it - and patience, my dears... you have plenty else to keep you busy until then, anyway!
On a local note: Some of us here at "SHA Central" already got a great live preview of some of the new Foo Fighters material when they opened for the excellent veteran LA tribute band, The Atomic Punks for a surprise concert at Paladino's last year. Needless to say, there was no room to breathe - but hey, what are a few bumps and bruises for the sake of ROCK! (and my kids think THEY know how to navigate a mosh pit... ha! ;-)

RANDOM NOTES
by Austin Scaggs
Foo Fighters Surprise Mulletheads in SoCal
>> Mulletheaded locals at Paladino's... in Reseda, California, intent on reliving the glory days of hair metal with the ATOMIC PUNKS, a VAN HALEN cover band, got a free taste of FOO FIGHTERS when the band took the stage unannounced to road-test some new songs for their upcoming European festival dates... DAVE GROHL says the Foos will start recording a new album when they're back from Europe, to be followed by the inevitable tour. "We figure that instead of taking 'cool' bands on tour, we'll probably take out this Tributepalooza," he says. "A QUEEN tribute band, and AC/DC tribute band, the ATOMIC PUNKS and us. We're talking arenas."
Oh, and did we forget to mention that the next year's SHA reunion will be taking place that the Los Angleles Forum? (NOT! ;-):
(thanks for the great giggle, there, Dave... no doubt a very fine creative effort to regain respectability in response to all the harrassment suffered following this display of musical bravery - but you forgot to mention the main attraction on this tour: The Flying Tomatoes (following Hoover Vac & The Flying Falsies, of course!)
QUEEN PERFORM FOR QUEEN!
Just in and JUST listened to!!! (while labeling those discount postcards for CA snailmail listmembers, so "yes" to R.C. & others who wrote: they ARE on their way, now): QUEEN just DID reunite and perform (Radio GaGa, Tie Your Mother Down, Another One Bites The Dust, Under Pressure, Hammer To Fall, The Show Must Go On, One By One (Only The Good Die Young), We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions...) in Amsterdam just days ago (April 30, 2002) for the Queen of Holland's birthday celebration. This was Brian May, Roger Taylor & Queen tour/solo bandmates (Spike Edney, Eric Singer, Fabba Girls, etc.) with Brian, Roger and guests on alternating lead vocals - very, VERY cool!HUGE thank you from Steve & Catherine to friends overseas for allowing us to aurally "be there" tonight as the names of old friends passed beneath busy figertips... and HUGE thanks to Roger and Brian for reminding us again just WHY I'm we're still sitting here typing in all this silliness and dusting off the "Red Special" for yet another one in the year 2002 - keep rockin', guys!
And as for the rest of you beauties:
"KEEP ON ROCKIN' WITH QUEEN!"

A STAR IS BORN
On March 11, 1993, The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored the request of a California music fan by delivering a special nomination petition to then be forwarded to a fellow music fan from Michigan.
Just a few weeks later, The Brian May Band tour graced California, rocking the Arco Arena, The Tonight Show, KLOS, The Hard Rock Cafe & the sold-out Palace Theater on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (VERY important, 'cause that's where we met so many of YOU for the very first time, too!)... and then another few weeks later - as Radio's Shock Jock (Howard Stern) grilled the Gentleman of Rock (Mr. May) on the opposite coast - a silly bunch of musicians counted the hours to the unveiling of their first Royal Tribute to Queen, consoling their "just-paid-to-play" selves with thoughts such as "awe heck, this'll be loads of fun even if no one shows up!" (but you DID! and HOW! ;-)
Nine years and piles MORE fond music memories later (courtesy of YOU!), 2002 sees a Star nomination form as OLD as SHA approved :-) and Queen accepted for induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame - with special thanks to the work & research of a Michigan Queen enthusiast, and Queen's fans & peers who aided the petition process coast-to-coast.
As for a royal gathering in celebration of Queen's 2002 Hollywood Walk of Fame installation, as there was in Cleveland for Queen's induction into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame last year: looks like an "event" might just be headed to LA in 2002, too! (much to consider with the world as it is now, but will definitely let you know if that happens!)
YOUR HELP IS STILL NEEDED, of course, as this great bit of news now brings Queen fans into the fundraising phase of this fan-initiated & supported project, so do keep watch for fundraising announcements and be ready to take action when the time comes!
WHY ALL THIS FUSS OVER A STAR?
Well... I personally like to look at this Walk of Fame Star as a way for fans to say "thank you" to Queen for all the great music & memories & priceless new-found friendships they've afforded us via their hard work all these years --- that is: if we put our collective "thank you note" out there on the Boulevard, then we won't have to excercise the alternative of filling their homes to their chimneys with millions of cards and letters stating same (can't' have the boys Sleeping on the Sidewalk, now can we?! ;-)
So yes, folks - it's about that all to oft forgotten pair of little big words: THANK YOU
(besides, next time I'm down there stepping on the Marx Brothers, I wanna have a shot at the band who ripped off their movie titles, too! :-)
So just where will this Queen star reside and what will it look like? Visit the following pages to answer these and many more questions about the place immortalized in the classic Kinks tune, "Celluloid Heros":
This link resides on the Official Hollywood Chamber Of Commerce Website, and includes: Hollywood Walk of Fame History, Nomination Procedure, Upcoming Ceremonies, Recent Ceremonies, as well as some pictures from the Walk of Fame. (you can also call the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and listen to recorded info on upcoming ceremonies: 323-469-8311)
More pictures and information can be found on the "Seeing Stars" Website, including a photo from the Walk of Fame looking to the famous round Capitol Records Building (one of Queen's previous US record labels). Trivia for our friends outside LA LA land: The Brian May Band's 1993 tour included a sold out-concert at The Palace, which is on the same stretch of the Walk from where the aforementioned picture was taken.

So... just what is our Royal
Tribute To Queen, you ask?Are we a Queen fan club? Well, no - not exactly...
Sheer Heart Attack is a group of musicians - a tribute band, to be exact - who are dedicated to sharing the music and the spirit of Queen in the best way we know how: live onstage! The Royal Tribute To Queen is not just the boys up onstage, of course, but equally includes that wonderful family of Queen fans who join us (in person and in spirit) in celebration of one of the most talented and innovative rock bands of all time!
We are eternally grateful to:
Freddie Mercury, Brian May,
Roger Taylor & John Deacon
for the music, the memories, and all of the wonderful friendships that have been born out of the world they created.
The Show Must Go On!
I had a dream,
when I was young,
A dream of sweet illusion,
A glimpse of hope and unity,
And visions of one sweet union,
But a cold wind blows,
And a dark rain falls,
And in my heart it shows,
Look what they've done to my dream.
So give me your hands,
Give me your hearts,
I'm ready,
There's only one direction,
One World,
One Nation,
Yeah One Vision.
