        This was the first 
        attempt at this song, the sessopn having been organised by Guy Robinson.  
        It does sound as if it is the Pirates themselves 
        playing, rather than session men.  The rough-edged rawness was probably 
        exciting onstage but may have precluded a 
        release as far as HMV were concerned.  Besides, matters were not 
        going to be helped by Johnny slinking off to a beach at Bournemouth and 
        being hauled back late!  This version did see the light of day by 
        mistake as the flipside to the 
        re-activated "Shakin' All Over" 
        single on EMI in 1976.  The 
        
        second, more commercial attempt shows a difference in the 
        groups' studio sound in just ten months after Clem Catinni and Brian 
        Gregg had joined Alan Caddy, even if assisted by Joe Moretti. |
