Chapter 38: Kel

Taylor recognized the house as Kelley Michaelson's house. He had gone out with Kelley about a year and a half ago, but had broken up with her when he had gone to LA. She hadn't taken it well. He had later found out that she had been cheating on him for almost the whole time they had gone out. He was bitter about it, and avoided her as much as humanly possible. Rumor had it that she was now obsessed with him. He hadn't really seen her since then. He took a deep breath as he walked with Jessica to the front door. Once they had reached the porch, he pushed the doorbell and waited. To his dismay, Kelley opened the door. He winced as she grinned at him.

"Hi Tay!" she squealed, jumping at him and hugging him.
"Um, hi Kelley..." he muttered, trying to push her off.
"Kelley.....thats such a little sounding name! Call me Kel!" she chirped, overly excited.

She let him go and looked at him.

"You look as hot, if not hotter than before!!" she exclaimed.

He shuddered. He hated that.

"Thanks." he said, trying to sound nice.

She smiled.

"So....what are you doing here?" she grinned. "Come to ask me out?"

Taylor's eyes bulged.

"No Kelley, uh, Kel. I'm not here to ask you out, and I'll never be here to ask you out. I have a girlfriend."
"Oh...yea, the whore...." she stated, plainly. "So what do you want?"
"Don't you ever call my girlfriend a whore Kelley. She's a hella lot better than you ever were." he exploded.

Taylor glared at her and motioned to Jessica, who was standing behind Taylor, watching the spectacle. Kel followed his gesture.

"Oh. Hello Jessica." she said curtly.
"Hello Kelley." replied Jessica, squinting her eyes.

Kel turned around and yelled.

"Britney!!!"

Footsteps could be heard coming down the stairs. Britney appeared at the door.

"Hi Jess!!" she squealed.
"Hi Brit!" Jessica smiled.

Britney looked at Taylor.

"Hi Tay!" she smiled.
"Hey Brit, how ya doin?" he replied with a grin.
"I'm good! Thanks!"

After saying that, Britney dragged Jessica off to her room. Taylor looked back to Kelley.

"Its amazing that you two are even related."
"And why do you say that Tay?"
"Its Taylor. Kelley. And my reasoning is because she's actually polite."

Taylor turned on his heal and walked off the porch. He started down the driveway, never looking back. He knew that he had stunned Kel. It was obvious. He really didn't care. He turned onto the street and continued to his house.

**At August's house**

After reaching their house, August and her parents brought her sisters to their room and laid them in their cribs. August retreated to her room. Upon entering, August glanced at her calender. A little more than a week and a half left until school started. In ways, she couldn't wait. In others, she could. She sighed and walked to her bed. She sat down on the comforter, near the top, and picked up some pictures. They were of her and Taylor. She stared at them for about 10 minutes before putting them back. She didn't know why she was torturing herself, but she also knew that she didn't want to forgive Taylor easily. In her heart, she knew that she had to, but what he had done seriously hurt her. Sighing, she walked to her closet and pulled out some sweatpants and a t-shirt. Changing quickly, she stretched out on her bed to think, and soon fell asleep.

**The Next Day**

August woke up to bright sunlight pouring into her room. She looked around. She was still on top of her bedspread. She sat up and stretched. She yawned and looked at her clock. It said 10 am.

"Boy," she thought, "I must have been really tired!"

She climbed off her bed and trudged to her dresser. She looked at herself in the mirror and made a face. She grabbed some flannel pants and another t-shirt out of her drawer and headed into her bathroom. She grabbed the radio on the way. As she turned on the shower and undressed, August flipped through the stations on the radio. She found a decent one and turned it up so she could hear it over the running water. She hopped into the shower and let the hot water run down her back. She washed her hair, then her body, and then just stood there to feel the soothing water.

After about five more minutes in the shower, August stepped out. She dried off and put on her clothes. Leaving her hair wet, she walked up stairs. She found a note from her dad on the table.

Liz and August-
Good Morning!! I had to go into work for a few hours today, but I'll be home around noon for lunch. August, Diana called earlier for you, and so did Taylor. Have a good day girls!!

Love~
Jim

August picked up the phone and dialed the Hansons number to find out what Diana had called about.

**At the Hansons House**

The phone rang twice, and Avery answered with a perky "hello?"

"Hey Avery!"
"August!!!!" she squealed.
"Hi!" laughed August.
"How are you?" asked Avery.
"I'm very good. I called to talk to your mommy. Is she around?"
"Not Tay?"
"Not yet."
"Oh. Ok. Hold on, let me get Mommy."

Avery set the phone down and ran in search of her mom. She ran through the whole house. She saw Taylor watching TV, so she stopped.

"Tay?"

He turned around.

"Yea Ave?"
"Wheres mommy?"
"I think she's using the computer."
"Ok, thanks Tay!"

Before he could ask her who was on the phone, Avery had disappeared. She ran down the next hallway and skidded to a stop outside the room where the computer was located. She softly knocked on the door and waited for a response.

"Come in!" called Diana.

Avery pushed the door open. Diana turned to see who was at the door. She smiled.

"Hi honey."
"Hi mommy. The telephone is for you. Its August."

Diana nodded. She picked up the phone next to the computer and put her hand over the receiver.

"Avie, could you please go hang up the other phone?"

Avery nodded and sprinted towards the door. She shut it behind her and rushed to the other phone. Once she heard the satisfying ‘click', Diana began talking.

"Hello?"
"Hi Diana! Its August."
"Hey hon, whats up?"
"You called?"
"Ah yes.." trailed off Diana.

The two started talking. Diana invited August and her family over to lunch. August checked with her mother, and the plans were set. She would be over there at about 1. Diana told August that she had to go straighten things up. They finished the conversation, and they hung up. August hung up with phone and took a deep breath. She had to face Taylor and the guys. She told her mom the details and walked down to her room. She picked up her hair dryer and dried her hair. After she was finished, she walked to her close and pulled the doors open. She stared at the clothes. She didn't know what she was going to wear. She glanced again at the clock. It was almost 11. She didn't have to be at the Hanson's house until 1, so she decided to get online for awhile. When she got on, she checked her mail, deleting half of it. She heard a sound go off and pulled up her buddy list. It was Leigh. She minimized the window and went into a chatroom. It was a Hanson chat room. She sat and watched the screen until an IM from Leigh popped up.

Sportz501: hey August
Spacey1011: hi Leigh. Whats up?
Sportz501: ah, nothin much here. I'm trying to get everything organized for when school starts.
Spacey1011: sounds fun
Sportz501: oh yeah, doesn't it? Do you know where you're going for school?
Spacey1011: yea
Spacey1011: I asked my dad. He said that I'm signed up at Tulsa.
Sportz501: cool, thats where I go
Spacey1011: cool.

The girls talked for awhile longer, and August once again glanced at the clock. It was now about 11:15. She sighed. She told Leigh that she had to go, and she logged off. She walked back to her closet and stared. Slowly, she grabbed a pair of jean shorts, and a yellow tank top. She quickly changed her clothes. She looked in the mirror. Her chin length blonde hair had lightened quite a bit, and she was very tan. She looked at the top of her dresser and grabbed her make-up box. She carefully did her makeup, which took her about 15 minutes. Once she was done, she walked up the stairs and looked for her mother.
