Chapter 4: You actually remember that?

"August, honey, are you ready?"
"I guess mom. Just let me find the CD Julie gave me."

August got up off the floor in what used to be her room. Where her furniture used to be, boxes. Where her stereo used to be, even more boxes. She walked over to the box that was labeled "MUSIC". She opened it and pulled out a bunch of CDS for the plane. She had decided to bring No Doubt, Backstreet Boys, and the new CD Julie had bought her. It was the Hanson CD. August hadn't listened to it yet, and she had only heard one song, Mmmbop. She sighed, closed the box, and walked down the stairs.

"All ready to go hon?" asked her dad.
August simply nodded and grabbed her suitcase. She silently walked out to the car with her suitcase and her backpack which held her Discman and CDS.

"Aug, it'll be ok, you'll make new friends, I promise. Maybe you'll get to be friends with Diana's kids. She told me that they were looking forward to having you stay with them. And guess what?"

"What?"
"You get to go to New York with them. They have some business to attend to up there for the boys, and they said that you're welcome to go with them. Won't that be fun?"

"I guess"
"Ok. Do you have something to do for the plane ride?"
"Yea, I have my CDS"
"Alright, which ones?"

August sighed and opened her backpack. She pulled out the CDS. Her mom glanced at them. "Simply telling me would have been fine." she smiled.

"Oh. Mom, how a m I supposed to know who Diana is when I get to Tulsa? I mean, how am I supposed to recognize her? I've never met her."

"Well, you have met her, but I guess you would've been to young to remember. You used to be best friends with her second oldest son. I can't believe you don't remember. Hmmmm, I'll be right back."

Her mom jogged back to the house and re-appeared quickly with an old photo album. She flipped it open to a page towards the middle. "See, there's you with Tay. You guys looked soo cute, I couldn't miss the chance to get a picture. You know that friendship bracelet you always wear? You know, the one that you've had forever?"

"Yea, so?" replied August, lifting her wrist to reveal the old bracelet.
"Taylor made that for you. I remember he gave it to you before we moved here"
"Wait, we lived down there? I didn't know that!"
"Yea, we lived down in Tulsa when you were about 4. After you turned 5, we moved up here."
"Whoa, cool. Tay made this for me? I'll thank him when I get there"
"Ok honey, but we have to leave now, or you'll miss your flight"

"Boys!! Lets go!" yelled Diana. "We have to get to the airport!!"
"Mom, we're right here"

Diana turned around, to find the boys sitting at the kitchen table, each with a pop.

"Boys, how long have you been sitting there?"
"Uh, like for about 5 minutes" replied Taylor, smiling angelically.
"Geez, you boys are really getting to me" she shook her head and walked out of the house. The three followed her and jumped in the backseat.
"Mom?" asked Taylor
"Yes Tay?"
"Why do I remember the name August?"
"Ah, Tay, you can remember that?"
"Yea."
"Ike?"
"Yea Mom?"
"Do you remember August?"
"Vaguely"
"Ok. Tay, August and her family lived down here when you and her were about 4. You two were best friends, it was sooo cute. You used to get up early and go see her. You even made a friendship bracelet for her. Last time I talked to her mom, she said the August still wears the bracelet, and that she never takes it off" Diana smiled in the rearview mirror at her middle son.

"OOO, Tay-Tay had a little girlfriend. To bad he doesn't have one now!" laughed Zac.
"Shut Up Zac!!" Taylor yelled. His cheeks were bright pink.
