Fasty is the meanest and most aggressive, yet very joyfull
piece that I've ever done. It is very outgoing. It was once played in college where it actually shocked some people.
A friend of mine says that
it reminds him of a tiger running loose downtown in some metropolis.
A
nun who got to hear it said it "was driven", implying that I was possessed
by the Devil when I wrote it. Go figure! She's wrong! it is actually a very very happy
song, despite it's apparent aggressiveness. To me, it's an emphatic expression
of the joy of life.
I have two excerpts. The first one is an excerpt of the finished version and the second is an exerpt of the original, ie when inspiration struck. That's also part of the tape that was heard throughout the school on that fatefull day. It *is* a bit primitive and rough on the edges. If you are a purist of of "good" music, don't bother.
