Here is a summary of the features I included on my Ghosthead pack. I will be upgrading it with more features in the future, so This is not it finish, but so far.
-Fiber glass made: The Same stuff used to make and repair boats and cars. While Fiber glass can release very toxic fumes, it's properties deliver strengh while not adding additional, unwanted weight. Fiber glass is used by the profecional hollywood proppers and was also used to make the real movie packs, Darth vader helmets, C-3PO armors, Robocop Armors, stunt cars, sci-fi space ships, etc.
-Reisn parts: All minor attachments are solid resin. Bumper, frame, knobs, gun tip, gun triger, casted off original fixtures, wand attachments, clippart valves, etc. Many resin parts had to be sanded, drilled and modify all together for final attachments. Resin parts were directly casted in black resin for a natural colored finish. Metallic effects were added later.
-Metal parts: solid resin can only go so far. Real metal parts do bring more life into the pack. Brass fixtures, Gun mount hooks, Air connecting mini valves,
Shock mount, cap-socket screws, cable clamps, push bottons and wand switches.
-Movie pack fixtures: Most of the "found fixtures" used in the movie packs were used on mine's. Products done by clippard, mini air hoses, ribbon cable, lamp caps, vintage resistors by Dale, rubber floor mat, etc. A lot of it was found by Brent Kling. He has provided many parts and info to people on the net. The rest, I was on my own. Some parts like guntip's trigger, rings gun knobs, etc, were made out of scratch. Pneumatic elbow joints on the gun are slighty a different model, but it's hard to notice any difference.
-Movie pack lights: Done by Jim Shima. Light circuit includes the blue power cell and 4 red cyclo lights. Lights are turn-on by a switch on the wand. Very accurate effect and has two speeds to choose from. very powerfull. You can see it from a street block away! Uses 2 V9 batteries.
-Paint work: All pieces are casted in black, but additional paint was added for an aged effect. Pictures fail at showing the different paint effects. There is silver metal on the edges, black areas fading into silver, the orange stuff is rust. Knobs, screws, most metal parts are sorrounded with rust. Packs were never neat, clean.
-Labels: Labels were inkjet printed. I used glossy paper and glued them with 3M spraymount adhesive. Some labels were printed in chrome for a more "electric" look.
