Son of 2 San Francisco hippies, Cliff Burton is born on the 10th of February 1962. His musical career seems to start in 1976 with Jim Martin, who will play later in FAITH NO MORE as guitarist. Cliff comes through with him formations as memorable as EZ STREET, ANGELS OF MISFORTUNE and CHICKEN FUCKERS then join Danny Hillier (vocals), Ross Alexander (guitar), Michael Overton (guitar) and Kris Gustafson (drums) in TRAUMA. In January 1983, when he joined METALLICA, he is replaced by Lucas Advincula. During his 4 years with METALLICA, Cliff will drag an image of an anti-star, discreet, always bad dressed, with electrical taste (he tried in 1984 to convince the group to performe "Freebird" from LYNYRD SKYNYRD), loving more BLACK SABBATH first period and Glen Danzig in the MISFITS and SAMHAIN than THIN LIZZY or ZZ TOP. With his death in a bus accident during european tour the 27th of September 1986, he entered in the legend of Heavy Metal. The bus and the location where Cliff died in the accident.
