Dropkick Murphys – The Gang’s All Here
Released: March 16, 1999
***½ stars
Produced by Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen, Dropkick Murphys has made another
great Irish-punk album. The CD has the feel of a tribute to soldiers and
war, with songs like “10 Years Of Service” and “The Fighting 69th.” New
singer Al Barr shouts out some heavy lyrics along with the others in songs
like “Pipebomb on Landsdowne” and “Perfect Stranger.” They do a version of
“Amazing Grace” with bagpipes, and end the album with the title track
including a fiddle. It’s always interesting to hear a punk album with
bagpipes and fiddles.
