I was watching the Odessy Channel the other day.  For those of you not familiar with it, it is basically a religious channel that shows Christian shows.  Now, of course, you're asking what a blatant non-Christian like myself was doing watching that channel.  I have an answer.  They were showing old episodes of Alf, a staple of my youth television viewing.  I still get a kick out of that show.  But during my nostalgic viewing, something hit me.  I've seen the movie Permanent Midnight, which is based on the autobiography of Alf's creator and writer, Jerry Stahl.  For those of you that haven't seen the movie, the guy was a major heroin addict.  So a show created by a smackhead is Christian supported.  So does that mean that the Catholic church does not support the premise of birth control, but does stand behind hard drug use?  Perhaps I'm thinking too much, but that guy was really fucking high when he was writing the show.  Religion sponsored drug use.  The hypocrisy of the Catholic church never fails to amaze me.
