Chapter 16

"Now you've heard about our week," Diana said. "What about yours?"

Jessi didn't even know where to start. "Well, our group, The Four Angels, has been asked to perform Saturday morning," Jessi said excitedly.

"That's great, Jessi!" Isaac said.

"We're performing for the opening of that new restaurant. It's rumored that some record executives will be there. This could be a tiny step up," Jessi gushed.

"I'm sure you'll do great, dear," Diana said.

"This calls for a celebration," Walker said. "I'd like to take everyone out for pizza at Pizza Palace."

"Yah!" Jessica, Avery, and Mackenzie yelled.

"Go get your coats," Diana told Jessica, Avery, and Mackenzie. Jessi noticed how Taylor was being unusually quiet.

After everyone had left the room, Jessi said, "Taylor, is something wrong?"

"Yes," he said. "I won't be able to see you perform Saturday."

"Why?" Jessi asked.

"We have to leave Friday night to do a taping of THE GOODMORNING SHOW Saturday morning," Taylor sighed.

"How long will you be gone this time?" Jessi asked unhappily.

"We'll be getting home Saturday night."

"Oh. Listen, Taylor, could you just drive me home? I don't feel too well," Jessi said through tears.

"Please don't cry, Jessi," Taylor pleaded.

"Just please take me home," Jessi whispered.

"Fine. Let me go tell my parents," Taylor said and walked down the hall. Jessi sank into the recliner. Oh, it hurt her so much that Taylor could not watch her perform next Saturday. Her first performance. I'm being too selfish, she thought. He has a career and can't drop everything just for me. "Jessi," Taylor said.

"What?"

"I've been standing here for the past five minutes."

"Sorry," Jessi said and looked at the floor.

"Come on," Taylor said and held out his hand. "Let me take you home."
