Chapter 17

As soon as Jessi walked in her aunt's house, she was hit with it.

"Where were you?" her aunt asked.

"At my boyfriend's house."

"Well, don't leave a note!" her aunt yelled.

"I've left notes for the past two weeks, and every one of them are still on the refrigerator, so don't even pretend to care about me!" Jessi hollered back.

"I do," her aunt began.

"Save it," Jessi snapped. "You show me each and every day how much you care about me."

"I put a roof over your head!"

"Only cause my mother made you, so don't even act like you're doing it out of the goodness of your heart!" Jessi spat out.

"Since I don't care about you, why don't you move out?"

"Sounds like a good idea to me!" Jessi yelled.

"Fine!"

"Fine!!"

That was three months ago. Luckily her parents knew someone in Tulsa who owned an apartment building. They paid for her an apartment until school was out. Then, she would go back to New York. A knock on her apartment door interrupted Jessi's thoughts. It had to be Taylor. She and he were supposed to go Christmas shopping. She went to her door, opened it, and was met with a big hug and kiss from Taylor.

"What did I do to deserve that?" Jessi asked.

"Why?" Taylor asked.

"So I can do it again," she said and smiled.

"This is why you deserved that," Taylor said as he held up a recent teen magazine. Jessi and the other three members of The Four Angels were on the cover.

"Oohh!" Jessi shrieked as she grabbed the magazine. "Wow, front cover!"

"I told you people liked you," Taylor said and slipped his arm around her waist.

"Article on page twenty," Jessi read from the cover. She quickly flipped to page twenty. She skimmed the article. The article told how their single, Friends Forever, had reached number one two weeks after its release. It also praised them for their singing and dancing ability. "It doesn't say that I have a boyfriend," Jessi noted.

"They never do," Taylor said.

"I wish it would," Jessi said.

"Why? So all those guys will leave you alone?" Taylor teased.

"Yes!" Jessi said as she smacked Taylor with the magazine.

"Hey, I was just kidding," Taylor said as he laughed.

"I know," Jessi said as she threw the magazine on the couch. "Let's go," she said as she took his hand and began pulling him out of the apartment.
