Chapter 24

Isaac didn't even have a chance to knock on Jessi's door before it swung open. "What's wrong?" Jessi asked.

"I have alot to tell you about Taylor, Jessi," Isaac said.

"Well, come in and sit down," Jessi said. Isaac walked in. "Well?" Jessi impatiently asked as she sat down.

Isaac sat down and took a deep breath. "I don't even know where to start, Jessi." Isaac shamefully pulled out Taylor's journal. "You know when you performed at the fair a couple of months ago?" Jessi nodded. "Well, that afternoon he and I had a long talk."

"About what?" Jessi fearfully asked.

Isaac took a deep breath. "He wants to quit the band."

"WHAT?!?!" Jessi screamed as she stood up. "He wants to WHAT? WHY!"

"Jessi, calm down!" Isaac said.

"NO!" Jessi screamed as she marched towards the phone. "I"m calling him RIGHT NOW!" she yelled as she snatched up the receivor.

"No!" Isaay yelled and snatched the phone out of her hand. "Sit!" he ordered.

"Don't tell me what to do!" Jessi snapped.

"Do you want to hear the story or not?" Isaac sighed.

"Yes," Jessi said as she sat down.

"It all began Christmas day," Isaac said.

"But that was five months ago!" Jessi exclaimed.

"Remember when he came to your apartment?"

"Yes, Isaac," Jessi said.

"Well, he found your journal in the corner and didn't plan on reading it, but he saw his name in it."

"Wait a minute," Jessi said as she ran to get her journal. She came back to her living room and flipped her journal to the page labeled Dec. 24.

Here it is, the day before Christmas, and I am all alone. I miss Taylor so much!! Christina called and comforted me, and she plans to come visit me next week. My aunt and uncle haven't bothered to wish me a Merry Christmas, and neither have my parents. Taylor called, if that means anything. I've been thinking alot about me and him. I'm beginning to think that maybe we should break it off. He has his career, and I'm just getting in the way. The last thing I want to do is to hold him back. I would hate to lose him because he is really the only person that understands me and cares for me. I just love him so much and I don't think I could bear to lose him. He has been so understanding and compassionate. But, lately, I haven't seen much of him, which hurts me too. It looks like either way I'm going to get hurt. What will happen when I go back to New York? Will he forget about me like everyone else has? I am just so confused right now. I'm trying to think about Taylor and whats best for him, but the thought of losing him hurts me to much.

"Oh, no," Jessi groaned as she covered her face with her hands.

"Yeah," Isaac said. "After Christmas he tried to spend more time with you."

"I notice, but what made him want to quit?"

"The day Judy made that comment really affected Taylor."

"I hated that she said that!" Jessi said.

"Yeah," Isaac said, "and that made Taylor begin to think of how he was never here or you." Jessi couldn't reply. "The day you performed at the fair....."

"What is it, Isaac?"

"He spent the whole day in the hotel and thought of how he is never here for you."

"Oh, no," Jessi moaned.

"Jessi," Isaac said as he stood up, "you need to talk some sense into him."

"I know," Jessi said. "I don't want him throwing his career away for me."

"Yeah," Isaac sighed.

"Thank you, Isaac," Jessi said as she hugged him.

"You're welcome," Isaac said as he returned her hug.

"I'll call him and invite him over for dinner, and then I'll talk some sense into him."

"You know," Isaac said, "he really loves you."

"I love him, too, but," Jessi said, "what will happen when I go back to New York?"
