Chapter 7

Jessi arrived a few minutes early.

"Very punctual," Isaac said as he glanced at his watch.

"Thanks," Jessi said with a smile.

"I'm warning you," Isaac said, "it's like a mad house in there."

"Is that why you're out here?" Jessi asked with a laugh.

"Yeah," Isaac said. "It's nice to hear you laugh."

"Thanks," Jessi said as she blushed.

"Come enter the twilight zone," Isaac said as he held open the door for her. Isaac was right, it was like the twilight zone. "Try to find someone responsible-looking while I go change clothes," Isaac said and was gone. Jessi looked at the hectic scene in front of her. Diana was fixing formula for Zoe, Mackenzie was banging on pots with a wooden spoon, Jessica and Avery were argueing over a doll, Walker was trying to help Zac with his tie, Zoe was crying, and Taylor was having problems with his tie. He looked up, saw her, and waved.

"Hey, Jessi. Ready for tonight's adventure?" he asked and tried to tie his tie again.

"I don't know yet," she said. "Let me help you with that," she said as she began fixing his tie. They were inches from each other. Jessi was shakily fixing his tie. It was hard for her to concentrate with someone as good looking as Taylor watching her. She lightly tightened the tie, and breathed, "There."

"Thank you," he said shyly. Jessi was still lightly holding his tie and had an urge to give him a quick peck on the lips, but she didn't have the guts to actually do it. Taylor looked as if he wanted to kiss her. Oh, how she wished he would!! He was leaning towards her and she was leaning towards him, and their lips were centimeters apart when Zac interrupted them.

"Way to go Tay!!" he shouted, which made the whole house stop and made Taylor's face turn red.

Isaac looked at Taylor's red face and said, "I'll take care of him," and began dragging Zac outside.

"There you are, Jessi," Diana said.

"Yeah, I was um.....helping Taylor with his tie."

"Thank you," Taylor whispered in her ear, which sent shivers down her spine.

"Jessi!! Listen to my play drums," Mackenzie yelled. Jessi looked in Mackenzie's direction. She was surprised he had spoken to her.

She listened to him tunelessly bang on the pots and then said, "Wow! You're really good, Mackenzie! You're even better than Zac."

Mackenzie laughed when Zac came inside and said, "I heard that!"

"Can you play a song on the drums?" Mackenzie asked.

"I can try," Jessi said. She played "Mary Had A Little Lamb." Mackenzie looked at her in awe.

"Can you teach me that?" he exclaimed.

"I sure will," Jessi said with a smile.

"I'll be with you in just a minute,Jessi," Diana said. "I need to finish fixing this formula."

"OK," Jessi said.

"Jessi," Taylor began, "you left your journal here earlier. It's in my room, I'll go get it."

"I'll come with you," Jessi said. I hope he didn't read it, Jessi thought. Jessi followed him, praying that he didn't read her journal. She followed Taylor into a room and smiled at the scene that lay before her. There was a bunk bed in the corner with a pull out bed under it. Banners and flyers for different concerts covered the wall. Two dressers were in the room and there was a box filled with cds by one of the dressers. "Wow," Jessi breathed as she looked at the walls, "you and your brothers have played alot of concerts."

"Yeah," Taylor said. He walked over to his bed and picked up Jessi's journal. "Here," he said as he handed it to her.

"Thank you," she said as she took it. "You didn't read it, did you?" she asked in a worried tone.

"No," he said. "I'd rather you tell me, then having to look in a book," he said quietly.

"Oh, Taylor," she said as she turned around. "I'm scared to tell anyone. I'm afraid I'll break down."

He gently turned her around and said, "Would it be so bad?"

"Yes," she whispered as tears formed in her eyes. "I've been through something so terrible that I don't want anyone to know about." Her tears slowly started rolling down her cheeks.

"Oh, Jessi," Taylor sighed, "Come here." He put his arms around her and comforted her. She put her head on his shoulder and softly cried. It made her so happy to have someone show her some affection. She felt so secure in his arms. "Now, Jessi," Taylor tenderly said as he lifted her chin and looked into her eyes, "if you ever need to talk, I'm here for you."

"Thank you," she whispered and hugged him.
