Chapter 8

"Bye, have fun!" Jessi said as she waved goodbye. "Say bye, Zoe," she said as she made Zoe wave her hand. Taylor and Jessi looked at each other, and their gaze was only broken when the car turned the coner. "We're going to have lots of fun together," Jessi said brightly.

"Can we play dress up?" Jessica asked.

"Yeah, dress up!" Avery exclaimed as she jumped up and down.

"OK, but first let me give Zoe a bottle and put her in her play pen. Why don't you go pick out some clothes to wear?"

"OK," Avery said and ran towards her room.

"Would you put some of my make up on me?" Jessica asked shyly.

"I'd be happy to," Jessi said. Jessica was acting like a younger sister.

"What about me?" Mackenzie asked.

"You can be the judge of who looks pretty. How do you like that?" Jessi asked.

"Ugh, girl stuff!" Mackenzie said.

"OK," Jessi said with a laugh. "How about you play the theme music?"

"OK," Mackenzie said as he ran back to his pots and spoon. Jessi carried Zoe to the kitchen, got the bottle out of the pot on the stove, and went to the rocking chair in the living room. As Jessi was feeding Zoe, Mackenzie said, "How am I, Jessi?"

"You're great, Mackenzie. Do you think you'll be in a band like your brothers?"

"No," Mackenzie said bluntly.

"Why not?" Jessi asked.

"Because they hardly have any time to play any games with me."

"Oh, I'm sorry, Mackenzie."

"It's OK, Jessi," Mackenzie said and began banging on his pots again. I need to tell Zac, Taylor, and Isaac about this, Jessi thought. Jessi finished feeding Zoe, put her in her play pen, and gave her a stuffed animal.

"Let's go check on Jessica and Avery," Jessi said to Mackenzie as she held out her hand and helped Mackenzie up. The little boy held onto her hand as they walked down the hall. "Where are you guys?" Jessi called.

"We're in here," Jessica yelled. Jessi walked in the room she heard the voices from.

"You look so pretty!" Jessi exclaimed. Jessic and Avery looked like two little princesses.

"Can you put some make up on me?" Jessica asked.

"Sure," Jessi said. "Where is your make up?"

"In this box right here," Jessica said as she handed Jessi the box.

"Come sit down and the bed, and I'll put some on you." Jessica sat down and Jessi began lightly applying make up. She lightly put on some blush and eye shadow, then applied some glittery lip gloss. "Let me know what you think," Jessi said as she held up a mirror.

"Wow, you did a great job, Jessi. Thank you," Jessica said as she beamed.

"Me too, me too!" Avery shrieked as she jumped up and down.

"OK, OK," Jessi said as she laughed. She applied the same amount of make up to Avery. "You two look great." She looked down at Mackenzie, "Go get ready to play the entrance music."

"Yah!" Mackenzie yelled and ran to the living room.

"I wish I had a camera to take a picture of you two," Jessi said.

"You can take a picture next time!" Avery exclaimed.

"Come on, let's go put on our fashion show," Jessi said. She was beginning to feel part of that family.
