Middle Jethro Tull page
Hi! Welcome to my homepage!
That period of Tull's existence which people are most familiar with began with the brilliant Aqualung and concluded with Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young To Die. In between, Clive Bunker left and was replaced by percussionist extraordinaire- Barriemore Barlow. Two major concept albums were created during this era: Thick As A Brick and A Passion Play. Each of these albums contained album long opuses- representing the height of "art rock" indulgences.
Jethro Tull's first concept album! Dealing with the issues of man's relationship with God and the interference of religion, this album has many great songs, including: "Aqualung,"
"Cross-Eyed Mary" and "Locomotive Breath." These songs can be found on the compilation cd-Original Masters and The Best Of Jethro Tull: the Anniversary Collection!
With Barriemore Barlow onboard, Jethro Tull creates a magnificent concept piece which spans the length of an entire album. This is Jethro Tull's best concept album!
A Passion Play is a great cd, although the inclusion of the short story "The Hare Who Lost His Spectacles"
is a break from the complexity of the rest of the album! A comedic break, perhaps!
I haven't heard it yet, but this album contains: "Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll" which can also be found on Original Masters and The Anniversary Collection!
