MAY 98 ASTRUD and INSANITY WAVE release their records in United States. ASTRUD have issued their Acuarela records 4 songs ep more two new songs ("Lemmon girl" and "Something changed", a Pulp cover sung in spanish) in Sealed Fate Records. INSANITY WAVE -a power pop band- release "Do the Worm" in Spin Art. "Bubbles" by FREE DESIGN is the best seller item from the Siesta Records catalogue. The label will release more FREE DESIGN stuff very soon. By the way, you could read a Chris Dedrick interview in SOUVENIR, your fave e-zine... and other interesting interviews (Ibon Errazkin-LE MANS) and articles (The best pop zines in the world!) in June. PASTEL COLLISION change their name. Now, they are called KALEIDA and they will be playing in Getafe (Madrid) in July (Sunday 12) INANE is a new cool spanish distributor. After of several years of silence, the ex Another Sunny Day and ex Field Mice and Blueboy member, is recording a new album. Elefant records will release the vinyl lp version and Shinkansen the cd version. Distributions news: New Music will distribute in Germany, Switzerland and Austria the SIESTA catalogue and Nuevos Medios will do the same in Spain. Meanwhile Elefant records will distribute Setanta records in Spain again. the half of the Siesta staff is euphoric because the Real
Madrid -the famous spanish football/soccer team- will be
playing the final of the Europe cup vs the Juventus (of
Turin, Italy)... Congratulations Mateo Siesta. 100.000
LUCIÉRNAGAS
(100.000 fireflies in english, like the Magnetic fields
song) is a new spanish zine edited by one of the best
spanish pop journalists, Jorge Palomar. The zine is
superb and the contens are: The Magnetic Fields
(obviously), Mike Alway, Mus, Damon & Naomi, Julien
Baer, Wurlitzer Jukebox, Astrud, The Village, Broadcast,
Windy & Carl... The indie tecno pop is the new fashion in Spain. However of the Sukiyaki debut, Acuarela records have issued a compilation called "Lujo y miseria" with a lot of new spanish band of this vein. CHICO Y CHICA (the Madelman new project) and STARDU (a new band that sounds like Heavenly meets St Etienne) are the most interesting bands, I think. By the way, Meteosat have signed up for RCA after their debut single for Elefant. Talking of Elefant,
they are reading the second volumen of their cities
collection. After the "Montecarlo" compilation,
they will be issue "Casablanca" that will be feature a lot
of classic indie bands like Momus,
