The Fancast has, unfortunately, come and gone all too quickly. We fans that caught it one of the two times were very lucky. It was a beautiful, passionate performance. One could easily tell that Duncan was completely in his element: in the studio with his band. He was relaxed and laid back. It was wonderful.
For those of us that caught him the first time, it was probably better. Despite the technical difficulties (some guy constantly tripping over a wire and breaking the connection), it was a very entertaining performance. It was really rather amusing because, in the beginning, Duncan was warming up and tuning his guitar. Unbeknownst to him, he was being broadcast live. After someone informed him of this, he spewed a colorful obscenity, paused for a moment in thought and said, "Does anyone have some lederhosen?" I personally couldn't help but crack up at that: it was perfect. The man has a wonderful sense of humor. :) But, Duncan then decided to get the show started. This is the format: he played a song or two and then answered some of the fan questions. Not all of his answers were completely satisfactory, but we can forgive him of that. This is the set list, in no particular order:"A Body Goes Down", "Alibi", "River Man", "Bite Your Tongue", "That Says It All", "In the Absense of Sun" and "Home".
His singing was so moving: he seemed to pull the essence of every song from somewhere deep within. It was beautiful to be able to hear something so emotional and moving as his singing was that night. He left all of us in the chat rooms breathless and speechless. However, it wasn't all serious and passionate: there were some other moments of humor. At one point, Duncan and his band were joking around with one of the crew. Duncan made a jokingly unkind remark and one of the crew gave him the finger. It was all very amusing.
But, enough of my anecdotes. I hope that all of you got the chance to experience the Fancast. It was truly beautiful. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at Megryph@aol.com.
