Impossible Geometries consists of three pieces:
- Floe (25:12)
- Impossible Geometries (19:05)
- Stranger Tractors (9:19)
I bought the album along with RMI's Frozen North and Node back in '95.
C&D Disc Services had touted all of them as 70's style TD and,
since I loved the old TD but hated the 90's stuff,
I thought I'd give them a try. I was instantly disappointed!
After a few plays, however, I realized that the music wasn't bad at all; it just didn't sound like 70's TD (IMHO).
Impossible Geometries is now one of my favourite finds and I think that it's great!!!
I think that Airsculpture has sufficient depth and talent to stand on
their own laurels.
My definition of 70's style TD is that you can play the CD and swear
it's an unreleased TD album or concert.
The greatest thing that Airsculpture seems to have in common with 70's
TD is the improvised nature of their pieces and perhaps an appreciation
for TD's pioneering work. I've never seen them live, so I don't know if
the concerts try to sound like TD.
I have great difficulties picking a TD album that would sound similar
to their work, but I don't think that I have to. Impossible Geometries
is very good and that's all that matters.
The follow-up album was "Attrition System". I haven't been able to
find it through my usual sources,
although I think that C&D still has it. Was it deleted?
The latest release is "Europa". I've got that one on order and eagerly
await its arrival.
Of the three bands listed above, I'd say that Node devastates me, Airsculpture
entertains me,
and RMI keeps my CD player from rusting.

When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily
by reducing it to the question,
"How would the Lone Ranger handle this?"
